AS WE CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY, NO CLARITY SELANGOR MB CRISIS IS RESOLVED

In less than 4 hours, All Malaysians will start celebrating Malaysia's 57th Independence Day.

To All Malaysians, Happy Independent Day! Salam Merdeka.

The Selangor Ruler has given PR until Sept 3 to submit more names for the Sultan's consideration.

It is only natural and logical for Selangor people to have TS Khalid Ibrahim's (incumbent MB) successor based on his/her competence.

Khalid was already distinguished for his "profit mentality" (his years in corporate world), and for more than six years devoted himself towards turning Selangor into "profitability".

Many Selangorians believed it was by his prowess that Selangor's financial standing is at it's best ever with state reserve exceeding RM 3 billion.

You have to earn first before you can talk about spending, and Khalid has done just that.

Thus, his successor should at the least be - at par - if not better than him. And if only personal agenda of PKR leadership could be put to rest, nominating a new MB would not become arduous.

A source close to the palace and familiar with the sentiments and working of His Royal Highness was reported to have said that the Sultan of Selangor does not want a "remote-controlled" MB (chief minister), report The Star Online

It shows that HRH is sensitive to such probability in ensuring Selangor would not be administered by an MB that doesn't prioritize interest of the rakyat (people), but more of their political agenda.

There goes the popular opinion that suspects Wan Azizah's sole nomination for the post a sheer politically motivated move to suit the interest of the designee/perpetrators.

As reported, it is also obvious that the Sultan of Selangor is aware of all anti-palace remarks made by politicians that were damaging and hurtful and bordering sedition.

"The remarks are offensive. These people should read the state constitution and understand the palace's convention, protocol and tradition before making any comments on the situation.

"Certain lawyers from political parties are hired to interpret things according to what the clients wants," said the source.

Today, we are seeing more and more of politicians of PR are probed or charged with Sedition Act for their "offensive" remarks.

The latest being PKR vice president and strategy director Rafizi Ramli who is charged under Section 504 of the Penal Code on "Intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace"

He was accused of issuing "defamatory and provocative statements" against Umno members through a statement he made in February, linking Umno with an incident where a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a church.

For action against Rafizi and others of PR, the AG has been singled out for carrying out selective and malicious prosecution.

But one could tend to agree, should the non-action (probe and prosecution) against Umno/BN leaders and/or spokespersons who have "provoked" members of PR is taken into consideration.

However, for PKR leader like Rafizi, I won't be surprised if he would end-up charged with sedition and/or any other Acts for his numerous remarks.

In fact, certain of his remarks don't even go down well with his party colleagues and the latest is when a PKR assemblyman for Sri Muda, Shuhaimi Shafie calling him as being arrogant, report The Star Online

Shuhaimi's discontentment following Rafizi's statement urging Selangor PKR lawmakers to decline if they are nominated for the post of MB. Rafizi urges PKR reps to decline if nominated

But talking about Section 504 of the Penal Code, there would have been tens of Umno/BN leaders who could have been probed and prosecuted.

That's when, action by the AG seen selective.

As we celebrate our independence day hours from now, Malaysians hope that the nation move another notch from all aspects.

Every Malaysian irrespective of whatever differences must showcase a sound patriotic spirit towards the country.

Happy Merdeka!
