AS WEDNESDAY UNFOLDS, PEOPLE OF SELANGOR ARE MORE THAN ANXIOUS...

My voice may not be heard by leaders of PR (People's Pact).

To PR's supporters who read my articles, my criticisms may have even been taken in bad light - but it doesn't matter.

What matters, my "tension" over certain "situations" plaguing PR - is at least, released.

No, I didn't expect perfection out of PR, but so much do I want to see them being an excellence alternative "coalition".

As I have said, my criticisms don't make me an Umno. Umno has to go through a major, if not a complete "overhaul" and prove that they are the best government with excellence governance.

Since 1998, my soul has always been with the opposition, but as I have also said - I would not permit fanaticism to rule me.

I would non-hesitantly support every bit of PR's good cause(s), but at the same time, would not condone and would non-hesitantly criticize what is/are less, let alone, "inappropriate".

On the platform of "no one is perfect", I always acknowledge that anyone could commit mistake(s) including my own self, as well as PR leaders.

As the saying goes,"A good leader is a leader that could lead and willing (prepared) to be led.

After the meeting between the Selangor Ruler, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and embattled MB (chief minister) Khalid Ibrahim yesterday (Tuesday Aug 26), the leadership crisis (MB post) in Selangor is now entering it's 2nd day.

People of Selangor in particular, are anxiously waiting for sign(s) of development(s) as Wednesday unfolds, with majority of the average people uncertain or rather confused with what surrounds the MB status.

While some understood that MB Khalid is still on the job until the Sultan decides on his successor, many had the impression or rather thought that Khalid has resigned - uncertain that acceptance of his resignation was deferred by the Selangor Ruler.

Now that Khalid would remain as MB until appointment of his successor receive the consent of the Selangor Ruler, the decree by HRH states no time frame.

Thus, people are anxious to know how would the Ruler reacts to PKR and DAP stance of submitting only (one name) Wan Azizah as their preferred candidate, defying the Sultan's request for more alternative names.

At this stage too, it is still uncertain if remaining PR component party PAS would follow PKR and DAP's footstep.

With PKR and DAP's defiance, and PAS' possible move to submit an alternative names requested by the Sultan, rise the following questions -

  1. Could PKR and DAP's defiance prolong the crisis?
  2. What if the Sultan selects a candidate from PAS' alternative name list?
  3. What if PAS also submit a name (candidate) from it's own party?
  4. What if the Sultan select and consent the name (candidate) from PAS?
Forget not, until a selection is made and consented by the Ruler, an Independent assemblyman Khalid would still the MB of Selangor.

I was appalled at an incident where PAS MP for Shah Alam who has earlier brought the wrath of the Sultan and among those critical of Khalid's administration was spat on, got spurted with water, insulted and almost slapped by a group of unknown men as he was leaving after paying his bail at the Jalan Duta Complex Tuesday, report The Star Online

"When I was leaving (the court complex), one young Malay fellow came up to me and asked me whether I am Khalid Samad, the Shah Alam MP. When I said yes', he spat on me.

"And then, some 10 others joined him and started shouting insults, calling me a traitor to the Malay race.

"As we walked towards the car, they started shouting loudly and behaved in an unruly manner," explain Khalid, Malaysia Chronical

More often than not, anything involving the Sultan would attract people's attention and the angry mob outside the court complex against Khalid is believed to have relation to his statement which has brought the wrath of the Selangor Ruler.

Thus, it's not known how PKR and DAP's defiance to the Ruler's decree would have it's impact on the people.

Khalid told a press conference at the state secretariat building on Aug 26,"The Sultan has decreed that each leader from PAS, PKR and DAP propose more than two names as Selangor menteri besar candidate to make it easier for the Sultan to determine the qualified candidate."

Since the Selangor Ruler has asked for alternative names from PR, his next move becoming vital and anxiously awaited for.HRH's decision could also determines his impartiality.

Many are of the opinion that should HRH the Sultan put nominated candidates to a vote in the state legislative assembly, it could possibly be the best move, especially when one of the PAS' duo who signed the statutory declaration (SD) in support of Azizah was said to have done it more to remove Khalid from office rather than support for Azizah.

That has create some doubt if Azizah would still get the 30 votes as she claims via the SDs.

People opined that only this way would confirm who gets the confidence of the assembly at the same time, put to rest any doubt.

However, it's the Sultan's decision and our only hope this MB candidate issue would not lead to further complication as people of Selangor can't wait to see an end to the crisis.
