Logically, A TAINTED JUDICIARY CANNOT UPHOLD JUSTICE... A TAINTED ATTORNEY GENERAL?? Logically.. ?

I have just learned that my new interest in writing can be an effective healer to my state of depression or stress, the least to say.

For  a song composer/writer, I would believe inspirations/ideas would not 'flow' in under such situation, but to write political stuffs, I need no inspirations nor ideas as I write based on available facts & figures, be it from media reports or any other credible sources.

The only setback as I discovered, my emotion could run high while writing if the subject matter involves injustices be it to the people or nation. Nevertheless, It still helps to deviate from the personal matter(s) which caused my depression.

I realised too, there are plenty to write and as a beginner/newcomer in blog writing, I confess that I'm less than capable to write as effectively & comprehensively as those learned and experienced bloggers.

However, I'll be more than happy if I could complete writing on matter(s) attracted my attention the most.

Of late, it's becoming obvious that Prime Minister Najib Razak's administration were hit with problems - one after another, controversies which raise question marks.

Latest, nation no.1 legal officer, Attorney General Abdul Gani Patail again, became a subject of controversy and intense criticism for alleged misconduct that has cost the nation, including the lost of Batu Puteh island (white rock island/Pedra Branca) to Singapore.

The dispute over it's sovereignty were brought before The International Court of Justice (ICJ) the Hague, Netherlands.

Appointed Attorney General since January 1, 2002 to present, Abdul Gani represented Malaysia. The court ruled on May 23, 2008 in favour of Singapore.

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has called for the immediate suspension of AG Gani Patail amid saveral severe allegations of misconduct as reported by the media recently.

In his statement, Anwar urged Prime Minister Najib Razak and Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to respond immediately to the recent allegation by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad that AG's chambers had employed CIA agents as claimed by a news portal - reported Malaysian Chronicles.

Although pro-govt mainstream medias may not carry the reports, the said controversy is widespread as it was reported in alternative medias (new media).

It was also during his time as Commissioner of Law Revision that Abdul Gani was chosen to lead the prosecution against opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim during Anwar's corruption & sodomy in April 1999 and August 2000 respectively. The sodomy conviction was overturned in 2004 by the Federal Court.

Anwar has personally accused Abdul Gani and then Commisioner of Police Musa Hassan of fabricating evidence against him during the trial, in particular introducing the medical report that suggested Anwar's black-eye sustained from beatings in prison were self-inflicted. His claim has been backed by former police officer Mat Zin Ibrahim who investigated the 'black-eye' incident.

It is fast becoming a public knowledge that more and more people are turning to the new media (alternative medias) for information as they claimed the new media is more credible than most of the mainstream medias.

Having failed in numerous high-profile cases such as Anwar's sodomy II case, the corruption case in Port Klang Free Zone scandal involving a former transport minister and former MCA President Dr Ling Liong Sik and the acquittal of former accused killers in the Altantuya Shariibuu murder case - to mention some, latest allegations against the AG would surely have it's own implications.

What more, it surfaces at times when he is appealing Anwar's thrown out case at the Appellate court.

However, I have no trouble to agree with former AG Abu Talib Othman who stressed that those having the evidence of Abdul Gani's misconduct to lodge police report and not to discredit him as he is the chief legal advisor  to the govtand that his appointment is made in accordance to the constitution by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the advice of the Prime Minister.

The controversy surrounding the alleged misconduct of the AG Abdul Gani Patail is among unpleasant upheavals faced by Prime Minister Najib Razak in particular and the  govt in general in respect of appointments of officials to key positions or extension of contracts (some repeatedly) even long after their retiring ages.

As I have written in my last blogpost,  how leaders among others - Syed Hamid Albar and Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik were appointed chairman of SPAD and Risda respectively. Both were former minister and chief minister repectively, while Isa Samad and Mohd Ali Rustam who both lost disgracefully in recent Umno party polls and lost in GE13 in the case of the latter, were still chairman of Felda and an appointed senator respectively.

The practice/culture of appointing favourably selected individuals to fill key positions in public service dept, semi-govt bodies and govt-linked companies whom have passed their retirement ages only led to potential oversights, slackness, collaborations and even conspiracies where they might adopt the habbit/culture of protecting each other.

Also feared, is the possibility of such key officials taking advantage of their access and knowledge to information & govt secrets and to use them to negotiate continuity of their services or from any potential threat of disciplinary actions or even prosecutions.

To-date, a number of situations were left 'hanging', among them is the PKFZ case which involved billions of ringgit.

Most Malaysians except perhaps, most BN members, would still want to know the real reason(s) behind AG's reluctance to file an appeal. If Dr Ling is innocent, who could be the real culprit(s) and who could be held responsible and accountable for the huge losses?
Though a cabinet minister and Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has made his stance public, it was only after the deadline for an appeal has lapsed.

Similarly, as in the case of Altantuya Shariibuu murder, most Malaysians would want to know since there are real victims, who are the real perpetrators to pay for the said crimes.

If there are other cases the AG non-hesitantly filed appeal, why not in the above-said cases? People would continue to talk about these issues until and unless a satisfactory answer/explanation is/are given by the authority concerned.

There have been some opinion that state, an absolute (unlimited) power to the AG has the great potential for abuse(s).
