UMNO/BN or PR?

I deliberately chose New Malaysia as my blog title simply due to my undivided love towards my country, hoping the country I lived for many many years would transform into a better country for the next generation.
It makes me alert and concern of how this beautiful country with it's wonderful people of various races, awesome tradition & cultures is administered from time to time.

Ruling party Umno.
Umno AGM was just recently concluded. Honestly, I followed the assembly not out of my love for the party but because Umno is the ruling party of the day.

Having read reports on what had taken place during the assembly, I feel saddened when there was  nothing refreshing coming from the assembly.

In fact, it's pathetic that there was no filter to profanity, racial material, religious conservatism and other abusive language delivered in form of debate speeches by Umno own delegates.

At one instance, I have to take a deep breath at the extent of stupidity and absurdity of several of it's delegates with the microphone. Some of the speeches are like subjecting people to conditions that could make them terribly unhappy and then perhaps, giving them the 'drugs' to take away their unhappiness.

It is also appalling that despite absurdity demonstrated by delegates, jeers and claps still coming from the floor as if, absurdity make them happy.
Is absurdity and happiness the 2 inseparable sons?  What is more critical is the fact that they are part of Umno leaders who make up the cabinet, govt agencies and establishments with govt interest. With their
narrow-mindedness, how could they contribute in transforming the nation?

To many people, Umno is only concerned on how to sustain their continuity of being the ruling party. Umno President and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has said it loud and clear during his closing speech by calling members to close ranks in ensuring Umno continue at the helm.
National and people's agenda escape the delegates. Arrogance still the 'attire' to some leaders esp those with ministerial positions.

Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was reported to have given authority to Jamil Baharom to act against Pas deputy president Mohamad Sabu for his alleged Shiite belief and teachings. This bold action and statement by Ahmad Zahid during the assembly could be construed prejudice. Mohamad Sabu is reported of consulting his lawyers and considering of suing Ahmad Zahid.

Umno Lama (Old Umno) and Umno Baru (New Umno).

I can't help but to opine Umno Lama is always better than Umno Baru.Since the era of it's 1st president the late Tunku Abdul Rahman to the era of it's 3rd president the late Hussein Onn, Umno Lama has been the pride of almost all Malays.
After it has been declared illegal by Malaysian courts, birthed Umno Baru, in the era of of it's 22-year president Mahathir Mohamad. It is during Umno Baru that issues such as cronyism, nepotism, corruption & graft, independence of the judiciary, selective prosecution, oppression & suppression, denial & mute syndrome, power abuse, arrogance, privatisation, monopoly system, the use of pornographic materials against opponent - stand out.

The 'death' of Umno Lama marks the beginning of tremendous change and rejuvenation under Umno Baru. The hardihood of 'new' party members/leaders headed by Mahathir transformed Umno Baru into what they are today, a party many labelled as belonging to the elite few.

Their worst performances in two consecutive general elections failed to changed some of it's leaders. Even the death of Mandela, a man who lead in the fight against apartheid and then pushed for reconciliation seems failed to inspire delegates and leaders during Umno general assembly when they continue harping on racial issues.

Dominic Sadie, a 19 year old white who was part of the giant crowd of people holding candles and paying respects said, "If it wasn't for Mandela, I wouldn't be here chilling with my black friends." It only shows the great effect of Mandela's reconciliation efforts in South Africa.
We have heard of PM Najib's proposed reconciliation initiatives. However it has yet to take off.

Umno/BN post GE13.
With majority voters (51%) rejected them in GE13, it is left to be seen how serious are Umno/BN towards reconciliation and unity and also how Umno/BN govt rule the nation at least until expiry of their current mandate in 2018.

If their recent party assembly could be of any indication, there is every likelihood that they are just being rhetoric. Rakyat (people) are now paying the price for Umno/BN's weaknesses and policies. The rising cost of living is making people unhappy. Mahathir's privatisation policies are seen enriching cronies at the expense of the rakyat.

Tengku Adnan Mansor a Federal Territory minister and Umno secretary general was reported  to have said, there won't be any Malay tsunami in GE14, as if he has the instinct of an angel.

Perhaps, he should change his profession from a politician to a shaman or a fortuneteller.

The funny thing is, he didn't make any statement prior GE13 that there will be a Chinese tsunami. Will Umno/BN use pre-election giveaway and resort to fraud to win in GE14? Will the majority Malays get swayed again with Umno/BN's pledges and promises?

Pakatan Rakyat/People's Pact (PR)
Remain as good, strong opposition or offering an effective alternative govt?
This is the question the 3 components in PR have to answer. If they feel that they are better as an opposition, what they have achieve thus far sufficed to make them one. With little polishing they could become a strong and respected/feared opposition by the ruling party.
On the other hand, if they are serious and committed in offering Malaysians  credible and effective govt, there is plenty more to be done.

Firstly, NO bickering between leaders, be it within party or coalition. Indifference or disagreement must be resolved or manage towards reaching a compromise to be embodied in a final accord.

Secondly, they must see to it that necessary renewal, approach and energy (force) is made/apply in their continuous course of actions.
Feelings change, so is people and attitude/stance thus, there must be consistency and persistency in winning the people.

Post GE13, PR is seen exhausted and seems like loosing/lacking in enthusiasm. Perhaps, after so much of efforts thrown in GE13 or the disappointment for 'near yet so far' achievement in the general election.

Despite all the hikes (consumer products & services), Umno/BN seem to be getting some momentum while PR seems pushed into the corner with issues such as the Selangor state lawmakers' salary hike. No Right, No Wrong, but it has given Umno/BN the bullets to discredit PR and gain political mileage out of it.

Some opined the salary hike issue reflects PR's lacking in consensus. While some understand the rationale behind the hike, some (esp fence sitters) would easily be influenced with arguments by the ruling party.

Thus, it is pertinent that they ensure PR's house is in order at all material times and to refrain from making or repeating blunders. Continue to be in the front line in championing for the welfare and well-being of the
 rakyat.

Critics and political analyst pro to Umno/BN had already using the Pas and Umno/BN meeting and predicted if Pas decided to leave PR for BN under the disguise of a united Malay stand with Islam the binding and foundation factor, PR could lose substantial Malay support.
