WHAT DOES JUSTICE MEAN TO YOU?

As Ramadan enters it's middle, I chose to decelerate my daily routine, thus, giving me more space and time to do what I like best - writing.

Being an amateur writer, I hope readers would bear with me for all the grammatical errors, irregular content sequence, the use of less than appropriate words & phrases and style. Aware of my limitations,  I do hope readers find some worthiness in my articles and enjoy reading them.

People said, "prostitution is as old as humanity". Though the subject of prostitution could draw feelings of disgust, revulsion and pure evil to many of us, still, the act of offering and provision of sexual services - willing or otherwise - showcased humans can be bought.

When women and men can be bought to satisfy sexual needs, surely, men and women can also be bought for other services.

In a simple bribery case, one 'bought' the other for something in return. Believe it or not, among men & women (humans) that can be bought include people in high places and that learned judges are no exception - from lower courts, to the highest courts of any land. Simply, because they are human-beings.

Nothing personal - it is just disgusting and nauseating to learn judges implicated or convicted for bribery, be it in monetary form or other form of perks.

In the case of a French woman tourist Stephanie Foray, 30 (pic), who was murdered in Tioman Island on May 12, 2011, her parents, Joel Foray and wife Irene Mortal were more than relief as a Malaysian High Court had served justice for their daughter with death by hanging to convicted killer, Asni Omar, 39 - though that cannot bring back her murdered daughter Stephanie.

In most cases where it doesn't involve powerful politicians or person(s) associated with powerful politicians, trials appear to be smooth, with the prosecution (in most cases) able to successfully prove to the court beyond any reasonable doubt, before securing convictions.

However things don't appear to be the same in so-called high profiled cases where names of the powerful or person(s) associated to the powerful are implicated in the crime.

There are judgments delivered by the courts that some ordinary people felt confusing, while many opined distasteful and unacceptable, at the same time - strengthened the impression or presumption of biased judges.

After the Tioman Island incident, the police are now investigating the death of a gorgeous freelance Estonian model Regina Soosalu who was found dead on the beach of tiny island of Pulau Rawa.

It was reported that Tunku Alang Reza Tunku Ibrahim who is Regina's boy friend since July 3, 2012 (according to Regina's face-book page) has been remanded over the death of the 29-year-old.

Taking into account of Tunku Alang Reza's background (member of the royalty), it is uncertain if the case would be classified high-profiled case.

Tunku Alang Reza is a grand son of Almarhum Tunku Muhammad Archibald Almarhum Tunku Temenggong Ahmad, the first cousin of former Johor ruler Sultan Iskandar Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail.

It was also reported that Tunku Alang Reza's father, Tunku Alang Ibrahim Tunku Muhammad Archibald owned the resort. Privately owned by members of the royalty, the scenic island with clear waters has two resorts - Alang Rawa and Rawa Safaris.

The couple was also reported to have a pending drug charges and were charged in the magistrate's court with having 5.84gm of cannabis in Jalan Serigala near Taman Century in Johore at 11pm on Jan.1.

The above case has sparked nationwide interest and members of the public would be following the case closely.

In separate case involving the death of Muhamad Hafiz Abd Ghani, 17, who was beaten with wood by his own father prior to his death is unlikely a high-profiled case. So far, there is no report affiliating the father to any  politician or the powerful, not also a royalty.  He is a father who was reported unable to provide adequate food on the table during month of Ramadan which was the root of the argument before turning ugly.

One of the most talked and classified high-profiled case is certainly the murder of a Monggolian woman Altantuya Shaaribuu. Wikipedia - Murder of Shaariibuugiin Altantuyaa

Almost 8 years after her remains was blown-up with a powerful military C4 explosives, Altantuyaa's case comes alive again and reported to haunt Malaysia. Altantuyaa Comes Back To Haunt Malaysia

Altantuyaa
A lot has been said and written about this case, but for most of ordinary people, they are just confused over the followings:-

  1. That formerly accused Chief Inspector Azilah and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar's conviction was overturned by the Appellate Court.
  2. Abdul Razak Baginda who was jointly charged in the murder of Altantuyaa for abetment was acquitted by the High Court and that the prosecution who said they would appeal the acquittal has yet to transpire.

Popular questions among members of the public include - should Azilah Hadri and Sirul Azhar Umar are re-convicted by the Federal Court following appeal by the prosecution against their acquittal, what are their relationship to the late Altantuyaa? ; Why do they commit such a despicable crime if they do not have any relationship with Altantuyaa - be it personal or business? ; Since Azilah and Sirul Azhar are both former Special Action Unit (UTK), were they instructed to carry out the murder? ; If indeed they were, who instructed them?

This particular case which received attention and wide report locally and internationally, appalled many quarters in may ways.

It is people's high expectation that truth will eventually prevail in this case with all involved in the murder be booked and prosecuted.

People also expect that all judges hearing this case would have the strength to enforce justice not only to the victim, but the accused and to ensure independence is sustained to protect integrity of the judiciary - even at the expense of their positions.
