WHEN A LITTLE TOO MUCH IS COMPROMISED

Categorically speaking, just who can we classify being an excellent people?.

My 20 cents definition of an excellent people is simple. A man/woman with high level of intellectuality, broad (deep) in knowledge and with great deal of competency in numerous fields.

From the emotional aspect of it, they are people with sound and clear thinking, matured, honest, sincere and religious.

They are the well-mannered ones who are always aware and alert to whatever is right and wrong, people who make excellence itself their goal. if not a way of life.

At national level, an excellent people is/are - individually or group that has/have the desire(s) in ensuring MALAYSIAN society is becoming more harmonious society, peaceful and successful.

Having mentioned the above, I am reaching to a seasoned (repeated) question by members of the public - How many of our national leaders under the BN regime are categorically an excellent leaders?.

Forget not, Malaysia is at their hands thus having ineffective members running the nation would make it extremely difficult for Malaysia move another notch.

Yes, leaders who are intellectual, knowledgeable, competent, with sound and clear thinking, matured, honest, sincere, religious, well-mannered and that make excellence an uncompromising goal.

Dear readers, hang-on. Am I sound repeating of what I have written before?. Please bear with me.

In a circumstance where voices of the people are not heard, repeating could serve as reminders of what and where things go wrong.

I don't know what possessed me the other day but I'm certain I'm not done with the so-called Cabinet reshuffle announced by Prime Minister Najib Razak.

What could have been a constructive reshuffle, it only appears to be filling the blanks. Disappointment grew following his (PM Najib) failure of using the opportunity as well as his prerogative and/or discretionary power to shape-up his cabinet line-up to a new level where it could possibly rehabilitate the confidence of the majority people.

The general public is fully aware of the fact that by virtue of their positions in the party, leaders of Umno and it's BN coalition parties would secure cabinet posts, forget not these leaders are receiving support from party members and not all Malaysians.

On top of that, being popular with party members don't guarantee such leaders possess the qualities mentioned above which are fundamental to the need of a growing nation.

If appointing 2nd-line leaders with great potential and quality is seen an appropriate measure that could help strengthened the current team, PM Najib should not have hesitated to use his prerogative and/or discretionary power, after all - they are still members of his party.

Now rise the question - is PM Najib forced to bow for the support and influence these leaders had with party members to safeguard his own position as party president?.

If that is the case, Malaysians have to be 'happy' with what they got. Never mind the bloated Cabinet and never mind with ineffective leaders - at least, until expiry of their present mandate as the ruling party of the land.

Malaysia is a democratic country thus, any change of Government ought to be done democratically.

Malaysian public are fully aware the identity of Cabinet ministers said to be controversial when their reactions and statements over several issues and/or issues affecting their ministries went viral over the internet especially, the social media.

It will occupy so much of space if I were to state here all the controversial ministers with their controversial deeds, but sufficed with the latest incident implicating a Malaysian diplomat who was called home after being said to have sexually assaulted a 21 year old woman at her home in Wellington.

The diplomat who had apparently followed the woman home in Brooklyn on the night of May 9 was alleged to have assaulted her with the intent to rape.

A truly disgusting behavior of Malaysian Official working abroad that has given Malaysia a bad name in the eyes of the international community, but I find it difficult to digest statements by Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Anifah Aman.

He stressed that Wisma Putra was not "protecting" him and further said that he had asked the police in New Zealand to continue investigations in the interest of justice.

"Just because he is a diplomat does not mean he gets scot-free," he said. "Diplomatic immunity is not about having the licence to commit crime." he added.

When asked why the diplomat had been called home, the minister said there could be a misinterpretation of an email sent to Wisma Putra by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Anifah further said the diplomat would be returned to Wellington only if he was assured of a fair trial and that his life would not be in danger.

First, continue investigations. Then, diplomat was called home due to email misinterpreted by Wisma Putra. Finally, if there is a fair trial and that his life (the diplomat) is not in danger. Diplomat case: NZ asked to drop all charges

I here-by leave it to readers to form opinion(s) based on statements made by this Cabinet Minister in a case where it was also reported that New Zealand police had told The Herald they had sufficient evidence to charge the diplomat of assault with intent to rape.

Another controversy involving the Home Minister Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who was reported to have made unwarranted remarks over the cow's head incident at Seri Delima assemblyman R.S.N Rayer"s house.

Under fire from the opposition, his remarks did not go down well with members of the BN coalition party either.
MCA (2nd largest party in BN coalition) religious and harmony bureau chairman Datuk Ti Lian Ker was reported to have said,"For a minister in charge of the nation's security and stability, Malaysian expect him to uphold the law, even if his intended target is from an Opposition political party," Ting said in a statement.

He added,"Such an apathetic and arrogant remarks will only encourage further acts of violence and Malaysia will then descend into a state of lawlessness."

Though there is a neccessity for us to be wise and judicious with what we share on the social media as not to offend any party or to ensure our society remain harmonious at all material times, no one is barred from disseminating and/or sharing his/her thoughts or even ideas over issue(s) that attracted their attention and interest.

Thus, with reactions shown by the ministers in the above cases, can the netizens be blamed if the same become viral or even sensationalised?.

With advancement of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) which birthed the cybespace, it is important that leaders of the nation be more than catious, wise and judicious over their reactions relating to issues of public importance.

We can only hope that those controversial ministers come to their senses and buck-up as not to be a liability to the current Government and/or cause further damage to the nation and it's people.

We also hope the new bloated Cabinet would be free of corrupt practices. Nowadays, it's not difficult to find someone who had the experience where they have to pay a bribe to solve a problem. The victimized would certainly say how rampant is corruption in this country and that's just the reasons why the nation fail to progress and/or prosper.

With such a backdrop, it seems to them the Government is not at all serious towards eradicating corruption. The rant on social media samples people's frustration and displeasure with the present system and Government where they feel lacks honesty, integrity and transparency.

Everyone knows that corruption is a beast. While it may be true that many of us at our level, may have given, received or tempted in one way or another in our lifetime, corruption at political level and those closely associated with them which are alleged to be in billions is certainly more alarming.

With the many human trafficking and too few nabbed and prosecuted, Malaysia has drop to Tier 3 in the Trafficking in Persons (TiP) 2014 report - the lowest in ranking and in the same category with Thailand, Venezuela, North Korea, Saudi Arabia and Zimbabwe.

Malaysia must now close the gap between the number of victims and the number of people brought to justice, according to US State Department ambassador-at-large Luis  CdeBaca.

Meanwhile, Tenaganita's programme director Aegile Fernadez said,"the reason why we have been on the Tier 2 watch list for so long was that the Government agreed on a plan action, but over the last few years, we haven't been informed about anything,"said fernandez.

With the report made known, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar (pic) said,"my officers are now studying them (all the recommendations) and added that he would call for a meeting with the Council for Anti Trafficking in Persons (Mapo), the relevant ministries, the Attorney General and police to discus Malaysia's drop to Tier 3. "I am initiating this," he added.

I don't mean to be offensive, but why initiatives only taken after being downgraded?. It need not to be so as anti trafficking law enforcement efforts should have been consistent if not enhanced to secure convictions.

Reports of foreigners nabbed in anti-vice raids are also rampant. It was also reported that detainees would be investigated under the Immigration law and Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.

Everywhere I go, never have I got the difficulty to spot foreigners. In some towns where factories are near-by, their presence can be in hundreds if not thousands and come their pay-day, the locals would have difficult time to make use of the automated teller machines (ATM) for cash withdrawals.

By now, perhaps, readers can understand why I said I'm not done with the recent announcement of the so-called Cabinet reshuffle by Prime Minister Najib.

Another question I like to raise here is how abolishing Sedition Act announced by Prime Minister Najib would turn Malaysia into chaos as said by our former premier Tun Mahathir?.

He was reported to have said the proposed new law replacing the Act would not be able to prevent seditious acts that would occur.
"The people will be subjected to all kinds of sedition, including incitement to amend the Federal Constitution," he said in his latest post on chedet.cc.

Interestingly, how many NGO leaders known of their association with the ruling party especially Umno escape prosecutions for their seditious statements?.

More interestingly, how many cabinet ministers were not probe for their alleged seditious statements/remarks?.

Most interestingly, was Tun Mahathir the former premier charged under Sedition Act for his statements?.
Perhaps, he forgotten about that and forgot too that Sedition Act was effectively used against the Opposition leaders and supporters.
