Will Arrogance Backfires?

More often than not ; we are reminded be it by the billboards or the advertisement that "Crime don't pay" and yet, many end up in prison.

"Speed kills" and still, many lives were reported lost.
What we rarely or randomly hear is perhaps, "Arrogance backfires?"

In the case of the former two, the price to pay is clear-cut ~ four walls of the hard prison & the graveyards respectively.

In contrary, the price one has to pay for being arrogant may differ in nature, in most times not even immediate & comes in various forms under various circumstances.

Arrogance has always been associated with among others ;

Power, Money & Fame.

A man with a dollar in his possession is very unlikely to become an arrogant and one don't need the above to commit a crime or to speed. Looks like it's more challenging to become an arrogant. For the man with a dollar, he must be seeing voices and hearing colors to be one.

Arrogance can simply be defined as follows ;-

i  - Making claims or pretensions to superior importance or rights

ii - Having or displaying a sense of overbearing self-worth or self-importance, merit and ability

iii- Exaggerating or disposed to exaggerate one's own worth or importance

iv- People who are too proud and look down on others

v - Overbearingly proud

vi- Ignorant

No matter which of the above is chosen to define arrogance, none seemed fit especially for leaders to Malaysian people.
They will slowly but surely lose the people's respect ; that alone is one of the prices an arrogant has to pay. As wise man says; 'Respect is earned'.

I felt compelled to ink on the issue of arrogance following the recent spate of insults thrown to individual and Malaysian public.

i  - Suggestion or call to amend the constitution just to strip citizenship of a fellow Malaysian

ii  - Statement telling fellow Malaysian to migrate if they were not happy here or disagree (with govt of the day)

iii - Blatant denial and refusal to allegations of misconduct & fraud.

iv - Punishing (mistreating) communities not voting BN in GE13

The list can go longer but all in all, it will only be to their own disadvantage. More rakyat esp the well informed young becoming sceptical towards BN's govt's agenda of transformation.

It's going to be a dose of discontentment each day and  testing the patience & intelligence of the rakyat surely has its limit.

Whether or not elements of arrogance and the arrogants becoming dominant in the ruling party & govt, time will tell.

Just like fasting for the muslims, if they can survived without food & water from dawn to dusk, rakyat will survive againts ill-treatment (if any) from the powers that be for another 5 years.

Selangorean has shown it. They had given the ruling party in the state an additional 7 seats though getting direct attention from the PM himself. Not forgetting, Tun Mahathir.
