"The status eventually returns to it's original value/position after completing some sort of cycle".
Sex, lies, pornographic videos and photographs made their presence before 13th general election (GE), post GE13, it 'disappeared' so is
blogger Papagomo and ex-Malacca chief minister, Rahim Thamby Chik. No more new revelations and press conferences.Like the waves, it comes and definitely go.
To such tactics, Malaysian are bored and leave no effect. It's an OBSOLETE Strategy.
On a different platform - before GE13, proposal or announcement of any price hike is not heard and instead, car prices was said would be reduced.
Post GE13 - as anticipated, price hikes started making it's way with all the reasoning/justifications to substantiate cause.
First, the proposal to increase taxi tariff. Prime Minister Datuk Najib said the increase in tariff is to help taxi drivers meet with the increasing cost of living.
When Pakatan Rakyat (PR) pledged to give every taxi drivers a permit of their own before GE13, it hit hard on the ruling party, National Front (BN).
Just before polling, BN made approaches to win this group of voters by throwing pledges which was seen as 'copying' the idea of PR.
Now, Prime Minister Datuk Najib in a show of concern said increasing the tariff would help them. Increasing tariff is not the most suitable solution.
If only permits are given to each taxi drivers instead of companies,
fares need not be increased so often. One must not forget, increasing taxi fares will be at the expense of its consumers (the people). So what about the people then? What about cost of living of the consumers (people)?.
Most city taxi drivers are renting the permits and vehicles, that should be the issue to solve.
Therefore, issuance of hundreds of permits to one company or tens of them to individually alleged to have close ties with the ruling party leaders must be stopped. At the same time, revoke their permits and award it to individual taxi operators.
At any time, no one should have more than one permit. Even to that one permit holder, his taxi must be driven by himself.
This to ensure permit owners are genuine taxi operators. This way, taxi operators' operation cost is reduced providing room for better wages.
Now, companies with hundreds each of taxi permits laugh to their banks and not taxi operators. It's high time for Govt of the day to tackle issues at it's roots.
This was what PR pledged to do should they become Govt after GE13.
Following the move, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) follow suit by saying there is possibility of an increase in electricity tariff.
It's chief, Leo Moggie says the Govt had heavily subsidised the current tariff, particularly gas, as reported in Malaysiakini.com news portal.
Should an increase becomes a reality, it means an additional burden to the people particularly the low income bracket.
Much had been said in Pakatan Rakyat GE13's campaign speeches about this utility company. And their prediction of a tariff hike after the general election is almost coming to reality.
My only wonder is, should a hike in tariff is inevitable, why wait until after general election to announce it?
Before GE13
It's all about giving.
The BR1M blablabla
After GE13
It's all about taking
BROOM BROOM BROOM?
TNB is making net profit in billions. Instead of increasing they should consider reducing the already high tariff.
BN Govt earlier belittled Selangor's PR governed state for subsidising water claiming the state would go bankrupt.
In their bid to recapture Selangor, they agreed to continue what PR Govt is already been giving.
Now, Leo Moggie said the Govt has heavily subsidised TNB's current tariff?
If that's the justification, Leo Moggie, an ex-cabinet minister himself should ask Datuk Najib why in his bid to recapture Selangor in last GE13 pledged to continue water subsidy?
As I mentioned above, tackling issues at its roots will be the solution and not to resort to ways that end up with hardships for the people just like the taxi issue.
The privatisation policy, the PPP policy,it's implementation and regulations or is it the effect of privatisation itself which Dr Mahathir championed?
The People's Pact (PR) had in their recent GE13 election campaigns and from time to time revealed abuses, thus had created some awareness of many issues of this land and the issue of TNB is not an exception.
Now Muslim Malaysians are making early preparations for Hari Raya (Eid). Prices of chicken were once reported to have hit RM9/Kg when a BN minister said price at the farm is around RM5/Kg. Not only the chicken but the list of basic need of the people especially with the coming celebrations. Govt should instead ensure people could celebrate without 'tears'.
The hike in electricity tariff, gas and fuel will have an impact on prices of basic need. In the end of the day, it's the people (rakyat) that will be penalized.
