Many issues had caught interest of the 'rakyat' (people) where talking about it in public places and social medias were seemed unavoidable.
Some speculate, some alleged and accused, some furious and some smile or break into laughter depending on issues in conversation.
The most recent being the arrest of Maznah Yusof, the dog trainer said to be insulting Islam and Muslims over her Raya (Eid) greeting video involving her dogs.
DPM Muhyiddin Yassin was under fire when he jumped the gun by suggesting the above video was the work of a non-muslim.
When the person in the video was identified as Maznah the dog trainer, public and coalition of NGOs slammed Muhyiddin for "barking up wrong tree" and wanted Muhyiddin be charged for sedition.
Malaysian Indian Progressive Association (Mipas) secretary general S.Barathidasan was reported he would lodge a police report on this matter soon and alleged Muhyiddin "had broke the law" and wanted him charged under Sedition Act.
"Mipas is curious why our deputy prime minister was silent when Perkasa leaders like Ibrahim Ali and Zulkifli Nordin as well as Redhuan Tee Abdullah insulted other religion?" he asked.
"I am not sure if Maznah has breached the law but I am certain that Muhyiddin did and therefore action must be taken against him," said the NGO leader.
Prior to that was the shocking shooting of activist R.Sanjeevan and followed by renowned banker Hussain and few other incidences.
The talks were centered to the increasing crimes and the rampant use of guns by assailants.
Some said it looks like there are many hired gunmen willing and prepared to take up the task of assasinating busness rivals or the drug syndicate.
Some also claimed that if that were to happen in other country, for such blatant crime, the chief of police and it's relevant minister (here is home minister) will have to take responsibility and accountability. They may even be relieved from their posts.
Then we had the report of a HM/Principal of Sek Men Alam Megah (a secondary school) telling her students to 'balik' (return) to India, China and Indonesia (countries of their ancestors).
Many were unhappy that such call was made to school children by non other than it's own HM/Principal. Such call was once made by politician. So people wonder was the Principal herself a politician or agent to politician?
The controversy of shower room turned canteen in another school in Sg Buluh, Selangor seemed not subsided when in a latest twist, Noh Omar an ex-minister, has called on the authority to investigate and charge those who have revealed the information under the Sedition Act.
For that, MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek said "dia sudah gila" ("he has gone crazy"). He also said this is a typical example of abuse on usage of the act.
Chua stressed it should be the school Principal whom should
be charged for sedition.
(reports available in Malaysiakini July 31, 2013)
On political side, the Registrar of Society (ROS), received people's attention and becoming a subject of conversation when they go down 'hard' on DAP (component party of People's Pact) over the Central Executive Council (CEC) controversy.
As a matter of fact, the ROS had used the CEC controversy on DAP a day before nomination of recent general election. Now that the issue cropped up again, the talking also started. It was reported that ROS now ordered DAP to hold a fresh CEC elections which DAP rejects.
The on-going election petitions filed by both People's Pact (PR) and National Front (BN) is no less a 'hot' topic. Mixed views and opinions especially when more and more petitions were rejected by the election court.
PAS (component party of PR) deputy president Mat Sabu was reported to have decried as work of "hidden hands" on the dismissed general election petitions.
He further said the party found it strange when election court rejected 11 petitions filed by the party with same reasons and same costs imposed.
Election Commission's (EC) indelible ink which was not that indelible is still being mentioned on and off. Whenever it comes to EC, the indelible ink would not be missed.
EC has become a 'laughing stock' to the public over the ink issue.
As Umno's (main component party of BN) general assembly draws near, people talked of the potential top party post contest. The name of it's Wanita (Women) chief Sharizat Jalil became the opening conversation. The NFC controversy has made her 'popular' and that has led people to speculate on her chances of retaining the post.
Meanwhile, Azalina Othman, ex-Umno Putri chief had openly offered to challenge Sharizat.
Names like Mukhriz Mahathir, Khairy Jamaluddin to name few, were not spared from speculations.
The controversies surrounding the Scorpene, Custodial Death and the Murder of Altantuya Sharibu continued to be spoken as if there is no ending to it.
Perhaps, until truth prevails will only people or public stop talking about it.
In all the above issues with Umno affairs the only exception, people or public will judge how leaders of the BN Govt handle them. Unsatisfactory actions will only result in deeper negative perception and turning it into subject of ridicule.
Medias (print and electronics) are often slow in reporting or don't report at all especially on issues that will place leaders of the Govt in bad-light but with the internet, information comes from all angel.
That's the main reason why internet has become people's first option in getting news and information.
