It seems, controversy in Malaysia Bolehland never stops evolving!
As though taking her queue after Attorney General Gani Patail (for allegations leveled at him) was Rosmah Mansor, the 'bushy' haired wife of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
She created an uproar and dissatisfaction not only to opposition MPs (member of parliament) but members of the public especially the taxpayers over her jet funded (by the govt) trip to the 4th Qatar Businesswomen's forum in Qatar.
I don't see the need to further elaborate on it as the same is still receiving media coverage in new media (alternative medias).
I am just appalled at the extent of the 'silence syndrome' adopted by the prime minister & deputy prime minister in particular and all cabinet members except, Shahidan Kassim.
With controversy of such magnitude, which could invite serious repercussion and/or implication to them and the govt, their silence is just unbelievable.
Prior to this 'silence syndrome', Malaysians were 'served' with 'denial syndrome' which were rampant especially prior, during and post 13th general election (GE13) when heads of several govt agencies esp the Election Commission (EC) denied almost all allegations of frauds & malpractices labelled at them.
Rise the question, can silence be used as evidence of guilt? In simpler term, does silence mean guilt? I wish ti cite here how prosecutors have used the silence of Genovevo Salinas to convict him of a 1992 murder...
Or do they felt it is nobble to keep their silence over the fiery debated issue in parliament?
Revelations by a BN MP Azalina Othman on Rosmah's controversy contradicting the 'defending' statements by a minister Shahidan Kassim.
A 'recycled' minister in prime minister's department whom isuued/passed numerous statements that made little or no sense at all. Among his statements are; that the power/electricity bills at Sri Perdana (official residence of the prime minister) were among the lowest in the world, and that relying on commercial flights (in reference to Rosmah's controversy) especially for last minute trip could sometimes be more costly than using private jets, statements that he made without providing details and examples.
With such enormous contradiction of facts between a minister and a BN MP (Shahidan and Azalina) on Rosmah's conroversy, wouldn't it more than appropriate for prime minister Najib to indicate his stance and for deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin to clarify and provide answers as he was reported as the one who chaired the cabinet meeting and approved the request (use of executive jet).
Whether he is 'trapped' or not (deliberately or otherwise) in this controversy, being No.2 man in the govt with potential of becoming future prime minister of this country, it is only wise that he clears his name failing which would substatially have an adverse effect on his credibility, integrity and reputation.
Like many fellow Malaysians, my concern is not whether Rosmah is perturbed or unperturbed with the flak she drawn, my concern is the public fund/resources (taxpayers money) used to foot the bills of her personal trip (as revealed by MP Azalina).
My concern is whether the approval itself is considered gross abuse of power by PM, DPM and all members of the cabinet who attended the cabinet meeting.
My concern is whether the amount for all the said expenses be returned/refunded to the govt.
My concern is whether MACC (Malaysian Anti Corruption Agency) would have the courage to initiate an investigation of power abuse.
My concern is whether the Attorney General would prosecute should investigations found the presence of prima facie.
Rosmah is not known to be a renowned successful business woman here or internationally and she is never an elected member of the govt. She happens to be the wife of a prime minister of Malaysia Najib Abdul Razak and that the law does not provide her with any executive power what more authority to officially/formally represent Malaysia or govt of Malaysia using public fund/resources (taxpayers money).
Thus 'sweeping this issue under the carpet' would only further taints the already controversy-laden BN govt.
In conclusion, I am equally appalled at the lackadaisical attitude of cabinet ministers (other than Shahidan Kassim) present in the cabinet meeting for their failure to raise strong objection before approval was made by DPM Muhyiddin.
Like I have had mentioned prior to this post, now I repeat - of how recycled, tainted and expired cabinet ministers could contribute towards transforming Malaysia to greater heights when their intelligence can be suspected to be on declining mode.
Should BN get 'wipe-out' in GE14, let me assure, the presence of such leaders on board of PM Najib's cabinet is certainly one of the contributing factors, but that's none of my concern.
My concern centered to how much 'damage' they (BN govt) leave behind for it's successor to shoulder.
In this era of internet border-less world, only an excellent govt with excellence governance would escape scrutiny.

"Until we totally change the way we elect our leaders, until we remove private money from public campaigns, lying will be the de facto method of governance in this country."
