WHEN WOULD UMNO/BN SAY, "LET GONE BE BYGONE", TO OLD TACTICS?
Post 13th general election (GE13), Sg Limau ( a state seat in Kedah) is the 2nd by-election after Kuala Besut (a state seat in Terengganu).
By norms, by-election(s) would favour the ruling party thus, I'm less than enthusiastic about it's result which will be known 4 to 5 hours more.
Like all the by-elections held before this, Umno/BN govt have been seen to conviniently resorting to approach or more appropriately tactics what many catagorically classified as 'vote buying' tactics.
In Sg Limau for instance, just see how pathetic of Umno/BN when it's chief minister Mukhriz, son of 22 years ex-prime minister Mahathir said he would become the adopted assemblyperson should BN wins.
I interpret that as an insult to his BN contesting candidate, Ahmad Sohaimi as his statement smples great deal of incompetence let alone relevance on the part of Ahmad.
Equally pathetic when deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin ayes RM2.25 million in allocation for the Chinese school in Sg Limau.
Forget not, since 505 (May 5), they bashed, rediculed, race profiling? the Chinese voters and community following the latter's massive rejection (Chinese Tsunami) of the BN in GE13.
Many would find difficulty to assume far more believe Umno/BN govt would not adopt the same tactics in future elections. The use of govt machinery, public funds, abuse of power, fraud, to name some.
As if that's not convincing enough, distasteful remarks are uttered to dicredit or belittle the opposition.
I wish to draw readers' attention to the distasteful remarks by DPM Muhyiddin on the griefing family of late Azizan. I would not waste time to authenticate sincerity of his apology. If no.2 man in the govt is less than mindful with words he utters, what leadership quality is he demonstrating to his subordinates and more importantly, the citizens?
Without the abovementioned, isn't there basis to believe popular opinion that Umno/BN could have been History? Even before GE13?
Sg Limau seat (vacated by the late Azizan) is known to be People's Pact (PR) stronghold. In recent GE13, the late Azizan secured victory with more than two thousand votes majority.Should BN wins today, it proves as how difficult it is to 'fight' them when battle is never on level playing field.
Todate, it has been 56 years since Umno/BN rule Malaysia. Their performance is clearly written in the report card of which many Malaysian are fully aware.
Whether voters in Sg Limau preserve the mandate they had given PR in recent GE13 or bent with pledges and promises will soon be known.
I have written in my last post that Mahathir (in his 22 years of rule) left behind Mahathirism. Who could best continue his legacy if not his own son, Mukhriz.
Mahathir is also right about money politics in BN as clearly demonstrated by Mukhriz and other BN leaders in Sg Limau by-election.
