IS MALAYSIA IN IT'S RIGHT COURSE?

When calamity strikes, with it come the doubts, the fears and the struggle of dealing with it.

Yet to recover from the Shiite's 'concussion' by Ahmad Zahid Hamidi the home minister, now come another blow? -Talks of overthrowing the govt.?

Well, it is a fact that majority of Malaysians wanted to overthrow the BN govt, but through a democratic process of an election (general election), as clearly indicated in GE13's 51% of popular vote against them (BN).
Now, should it be an incorrect information, it is vital to correct the inaccuracy because it could misled the people and create inflammatory atmosphere on what could be an unfounded basis.

Most Malaysians are yet to recover from continuous price hikes depression, let there be no new issue to create anxiety and tension among the people.
Who exactly are the people who want to overthrow the govt when general election had just been held seven months ago?

Even Mat Sabu (Pas deputy president) has yet to be prosecuted over his Shiite offense charges despite A & B grade evidences. Are issues of this nature becoming a design to divert public attention from BN govt's price hikes debacle?

Addressing burdens of the people.
Under present circumstances, BN govt ought to prioritize in finding ways and means to reduce burdens of the people.
Instead of approving the highway toll rates, it would be more than appropriate if the govt ensure highway concession firms first improve or solve the worsening congestion at various points of the highways especially in peak hours.

If the BN govt claims to be a good govt, they must look after the people and not to add burdens. If they are a good govt, not only they should ensure people's safety, giving quality education etc, but more importantly to spend their money (public fund) with prudence and for the benefits of the people. They must not be seen
enriching cronies.

Highway toll hikes must not be seen as if, BN govt is prioritizing in providing the elites (cronies) better income in the form of dividends for the share-holders and fat bonuses for office bearers  in GLCs (Govt-Linked Company).

If they are a people's govt, they should see how the slates of price hikes in consumer products and services could be revised.

I would not want to suggest the BN govt esp Prime Minister Najib to invest approaches by chief ministers of Selangor and Penang, but just look at Selangor's reserves under PR (Pakatan Rakyat) chief minister Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and compare it with BN's umpteen years of performance in governing the state.

With 30% share holding stakes in PKNS (Selangor state GLC), they are making attempt to stop the toll hikes, another bold step by PR govt for the people.

Do we have to suggest for the BN federal govt to do the same?
Now, BN federal govt has in fact, the authority to reduce, abolish or refrain toll hikes based on the fact the lucrative agreements between govt and highway concessionaires had given the latter returns of their capital and profits in multiple folds.

Instead of finding ways to stop the fiasco (all the hikes), BN govt resorts to the most convenient measure of increasing taxes and abolishing subsidies that had a direct effect/impact on the people.

Their years of spending, the kind of 'as if tomorrow never come' spending, the borrowing as if repayment is not needed, has now giving them the heat.
People, through their political representatives 'shouted' until they 'hurt' their throats. only to fall on deaf ears. Its pathetic when eventually, the people is made to pay the price.

Addressing burdens of the people is certainly not by issuing/making statements. The stereotyped statements which are utterly irritating such as -

1- Don't consume chicken - when there was a hike in chicken price.

2- To control diabetes - when govt reduce/abolished sugar subsidy.

3- Use alternative routes - when govt proposed to increase toll rates.

4- Use public transport - When govt increase the price of petrol and diesel.

Now, with the new tariff in electricity, is the govt going to tell the people to use candles? With the increased price of cooking gas, is the govt going to tell the people to use burning woods?
Ministers and cronies would have no problem even if the above prices is increased to three folds, but did they consider the lower income group?

If BN govt is serious and committed enough to ease burdens of the people, they have to immediately undertake measures such as breaking monopolies.Importation and distribution of sugar for instance, must not
remain in the hands of a single crony. Lopsided Independent Power Producer (IPP) agreements must immediately be revised and resolved. Issuance of numerous APs (approved permit) must not be made to specific cronies and most importantly, to stop govt's extravagant spending.

It must be noted that increases in consumer products and services contributes to rise in cost of living. That would reduce purchasing power and when purchasing power declines, so is consumption. This would have it's impact on the manufacturing sector. When manufacturers
reduce production, contribution in form of taxes also decline.

Is incompetency becoming widespread in BN govt administration?
Many BN leaders including ministers have been giving statement after statement following the slates of price hikes. From their statements samples inferiority (incompetency?).
I wish to highlight a statement by Prime Minister's press secretary Tengku Sariffudin Tengku Ahmad who said, "To keep Malaysia's economy strong, we need to keep our public spending in check. That means raising some rates and cutting some subsidies."

I'm not really sure if he really knows what the ...he's talking about! What does government "raising some rates" means?  Is it not collecting monies from the people? Thus, what has it got to do with the government keeping it's public spending in check? The raising of some rates is government's sheer move of filling up it's coffer.
