In Less than 48 Hrs, It' Bye Bye 2013 !! But when is Bye Bye to endless controversies?

Do you know, when a woman is beautiful, it can be pretty challenging for her; without proper care & 'maintenance', in 20 years or so, her beauty is 'gone'. It must be lot easier of her being ugly, as through out her life, she would still be ugly.

Now, in different tone; a good government need to be consistently mindful of their governance as ignoring the fundamentals of good governance would also make them ugly, NO?.
Let digest if the followings have made BN govt's 56-year rule, UGLY.

RELIGIOUS ROW.
The Allah Controversy.
The throwing of the six orders delivered by the Kuala Lumpur High Court by the Court of Appeal has caused a tense in interfaith relations.

- It causes confusion, worsened by stance of leaders who said, the ban of the word 'Allah' was meant only for the Herald, but at a later date the same leaders stressed the ban is extended beyond the Herald.
It (the word 'Allah') could not be used in Peninsular Malaysia, except in East Malaysian states of Sabah & Sarawak.
It was the same leaders who then said that 'Allah' is exclusive to Muslims in the country. 

- Call by former BN's minister to let the Christians use the word 'Allah', but bar conversion don't seem an effective way out.

The Dismantling/Demolition of Hindu Temples.
 -Temples such as the Sri Muneswarar Kaliyaman in Kuala Lumpur, which some claimed was built in 1911 ire the Hindus. Demolition of temples could always raise tension following resistance.

The Shiite Crackdown.
- Suspected of being politically motivated, creating perception of it being used for a sheer politcal manuvers to sustain dominance.

THE MURDER OF ALTANTUYA.
- Despite detailed confession of a pre-meditated murder (short twice in the head before C4'ing the remains), all former accused killers walked free. 

- No one is now a formal suspect or accused. 

- Justice for Altantuya has not seen been done.

ATTORNEY GENERAL's (AG) ALLEGED MISCONDUCT.
- Alleged to falsifying evidence(s) in Anwar's black eyed court trial.

- Allegation of mishandling/involvement leading to the lost of Batu Puteh (Pedra Branca).

- Allegation of bribery. 

(former top cop Mat Zain's Statuary Declaration, has reference).

- Allegation of soliciting selective prosecutions.

- Peculiar appointment of senior lawyer Shafee Abdullah as DPP in Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy II trial.

- Decision not to appeal acquittals of high profile cases.

THE SABAH RCI.
(Royal Commission of Inquiry).

- Issuance of Identity Card and/or citizenships to foreigners (illegal immigrants).

- How many 'citizens' from this Project IC were enrolled voters?.

- How many of them casted vote in GE13 (general election)?.

ELECTION COMMISSION (EC).
- The grave concern of the EC failing to live up to its constitutional duty & responsibility towards becoming a truly independent, impartial & professional body.

- 13th general election's allegations of frauds.

CORRUPTION, LEAKAGES, POWER ABUSE & QUESTIONED PROJECTS.
National Feedlot Corporation scandal.

- RM250 million cattle/cow gate involving Umno party Wanita (Women) chief Sharizat Jalil's family.
MACC (Malaysia Anti Corruption Commission) reported a slew of weaknesses in the civil service?.
Agriculture ministry's failure to carry out due diligence before awarding the contract?.
NFC executive chairman Mohamad Salleh Ismail's (husband of Sharizat Jalil) 2 count of CBT charges involving RM49.7 million -
will there be a conviction?.
Could the lost in public fund be recovered and return to people?.

Port Klang Free Zone scandal.

- The acquittal of former minister and MCA president Ling Liong Sik of cheating charges.
The RM12 billion scandal which the AG decided not to appeal Ling's acquittal?.
Who exactly cheated the govt?
The Scorpenes Scandal.
Malaysia's acquisition of 2-french scorpene submarines and the illicit commission scandal which eventually led to the murder of Altantuya Shaaribuu.
What is the connection between Razak Baginda (former accused) and PM Najib as well as Umno?.
The RM500 million in administration fees?.

Allegations of Corrupt Practice Against Sarawak Chief Minister Taib Mahmood.
-MACC (Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission) said investigation papers are still open but complicated?.

The Sime Darby RM964 million scandal.
- A govt-Linked Company (GLC) with PNB (Permodalan Nasional Bhd) which is state investment arm group being the majority share holder, incurred losses in Bakun hydroelectric dam project, the Qatar Petroleum project, the Maersk Oil Qatar (MOQ) & the Marine project. It's CEO Ahmad Zubir Murshid was removed.

Maybank overpayment of RM4 billion in BII.
- Maybank has incurred losses in billions Malaysia ringgit since its record acquisition of BII (Bank International Indonesia).

RM30 billion 1990s Bank Negara foreign exchange losses.
- Saw the appointment of Nor Mohamed Yakcop as Finance Minister II with the task to issue White Paper to "exorcise the ghost" of the RM30 billion Bank Negara forex (foreign exchange) losses.

RM15.2 billion Terengganu's 2000-2009 royalty.
- Call for public inquiry on how half trillion ringgit Petronas contributed to the govt for past 33 years and 15.2 billion ringgit royalty to state of Terengganu from 2000 - 2009 have been spent and accounted for.

Paya Indah wetland RM88 million.
Post Malaysia (transmile) RM230 million loss.
Eurocopter deal, RM1 billion waste?.
Collapsed Terengganu stadium, RM292 million?.
MRR2 repair cost of RM70 million?.
Tourism -NYY kickback RM10 million?.
3 paintings by MAS for RM1.5 million.
Overpayment by Sport Ministry of RM8.4 million?.
London's white elephant sports complex of RM70 million.
MALTRADE repairs of RM120 million.
Cost of new plane used by Prime Minister RM200 million?.

RM17 billion subsidy to IPP?

Putra Transport System bailout which cost RM4.486 billion?.
Star-LRT bailout costing RM3.256 billion?.
National sewerage system bailout costing RM192.54 million?.
Twin bailouts of Malaysia Airline System RM7.9 billion?.

- And many more.

GOVERNMENT SOLD & MORTGAGED NATIONAL ASSETS?.
- BN government is accused of selling off and mortgaging national assets worth RM6.5 billion to achieve country's 2013 budget deficit target of 4%?.
- What are national assets sold and mortgaged?
Sale of land?.
  Secularization of mortgages?
- Is there any truth?

USES OF LEGISLATION.
- Internal Security Act abolished, only to be replaced by another draconian Sediton Act.

- Printing Press Publication Act's (PPPA) yearly renewal of licence removed, but an absolute discretionary power remains in the hands of the home minister. The power to deny publishing licenses and to suspend definite or indefinitely publishers critical to the powers-that-be. 

- Restrictions under PPPA 1984; Govt's curtailing of press freedom.

- Suspension of news weekly The Heat.

- Suspension of opposition newspapers.

-  PM's promise of greater assembly after ammendment of the Police Act, but when Peaceful Assembly Act enacted, many activists and opposition leaders were hauled up and charged.

- PM's promised Sedition Act will be abolished, but instead more arrests & prosecution for sedition were reported.

RACISM.
(Racist taunts and hatred).

- The Umno-backed Utusan Malaysia newspaper's publication of a provocative front page headline after the general election, "Apa lagi Cina mahu?" (What more do the Chinese want?).

- Home minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's "Shoot first remarks".

- Ahmad Zahid's statement, "Those who are not confident/happy with our political system to 'berhijrah' (migrate).

- Former chief minister and a senator Mohd Ali Rustam's statement, "The Chinese want everything... When the Chinese want help, request to build schools, scholarships, the government gave it to them. But when election time came, they forgot all this. All that's important is that they take over the Malays and turn them into 'pendatang' (illegal immigrant)."

- The screening of Tanda Putra filem.

RIGID RIGHT WINGERS.
- Government's associated right wingers such as Perkasa, a race based group championing race & religion, which BN government lent credibility and assistance.

- NGO with political ambition.

- Warned or 'threatened'? to replace Umno?. 

- Perkasa's admission of using the fund to 'help' BN shore Malay support? 

- Its 'narrowmindedness' on numerous issues and promoting racist policy seen a threat to inter-racial and religious harmony.

- Public's right to know the amount of public fund (taxpayers money) used on Perkasa following the latter's admission of recieving funds from the govt via MKN (National Security Council), BTN (National Civics Bureau) & JASA (Special Affairs Department).

- That on one hand PM is talking about reconciliation & unity, on the other hand, providing funds to Perkasa which fan racism?.

THE AUDITOR GENERAL REPORT.
- Accusation by Malaysia's national audit body of BN government's wasteful spending & mismanagement that could lead to corruption.

GOVERNMENT DEBT.
- The grave RM533.5 billion government debt.

THE GOVERNMENT FUNDED JET.
- Rosmah Mansor's (PM Najib's wife) govt jet funded trip to Qatar. A non elected government member, not even an appointed senator, has had a government funded (taxpayers money) trip.

RM110 MILLION CONDO.
- The purchase of RM 110 million luxury condo by Rosmah Mansor's son (PM Najib step son) in New York.

- PM Najib's family living beyond means? Warrants MACC's probe?.

PM's RESIDENCE.
- The millions of Ringgit Power (electricity) Bill for Sri Perdana, official residence of the prime minister.

ARROGANT LEADERS.
- Home minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's exact statement, "...this is a close-door meeting; this is only for Umno delegates. If any news about what I say appears in the newspapers, be it Malay, English or Chinese or Tamil, I will shut down that newspaper. Do not write, I say do not publish, do not anything. I know what to do. You are dealing with Zahid Hamidi, okay?".

BN'S LEADERS/MINISTERS RIGID & INSENSITIVE MENTALITY.
(Look at the following statements by BN's leaders/ministers).

- Tengku Adnan Mansor ; Those grumbling on increase of house price shouldn't buy them.

- Tengku Adnan Mansor ; "Women like property"

- Idris Jusoh ; Send your children overseas if you disagree with national education plan.

- Hasan Malek ; Don't buy chicken if you see a price hike in chicken. Change your apetite to other menus like fish and meat.

- Hasan Malek ; No complain recieved by his ministry proof people (citizen), support govt's action on price increase.

- Abdul Wahid Omar ; Road users have got the option not to use toll roads instead, use alternative roads if they find the hike in toll rate is too high.

- Ahmad Shabery Chik ; Give each of the flood victim a tv set.

- Sharizat Jalil ; Umno party wanita (women) chief (wife to NFC scandle Mohamad Salleh Ismail) uttered the word 'bangsat' against PR's MP.

- Zaiton Mat ; Kuantan's Umno party wanita (women) chief, leave Malaysia if you are not satisfied with BN's govt.

INDEPENDENCE OF THE JUDICIARY.
- "I help you, you help me" judges favouring the ruling party esp on election petitions filed by the opposition?.

- Section 33 of the Election Offenses Act 1954 that prescribes the Chief Judge of the High Court to nominate the presiding judge. Is discretionary power used?

- A high court judge who punished a PKR (opposition) petitioner a whopping RM190, 000 in petition cost.

- The high in cost imposed by High Court judge on many petitions.

- Dismissing the case for mere lawyer's name not included in the documents?.

- Judges who blatantly ignore of their duty to uphold justice without fear or favour & uphold the constitution.

BROKEN PROMISES & PLEDGES.
(BN's inability to live up to it's  GE13 Manifesto).

Among BN's pre-election promises & pledges are -
- Would reduce cost of living.

- No price hikes of consumer products.

- No raise in toll rates.

- Would progressively reduce intra-city toll rate in 5 years.

- Would reduce car prices by 10%.

- Would not raise water & electricity tariffs.



All the above are some of the numerous issues and controversies that have hit the nation. Other issues and controversies include death in custody, 'crisis' in education system, cronyism, nepotism, monopoly policies and many more (the list can be a lengthy one).
2013 is certain to leave us for good, When will issues and controversies be leaving BN's govt, for good?.
