WHEN CRONYISM RULES, SO IS POWER ABUSE!

Have you ever wished of having the chance to live in the right country, the right time with the right government?
Right country, right time but wrong govt? Well, that's always the case.
In all democratic countries of the world, the govt determines the well-being of it's citizens. They are either people oriented govt or govt that looks after their own well-being, enriching members of their govt and the selected few (cronies).

What category is Malaysian BN govt?
If BN govt is people oriented, opportunity they created for the people should apply to all. Though it may categorically vary in it's form, the BN govt must ensure opportunity is created and provided to all level of Malaysians and bows out from the practice of cronyism and nepotism they have graced for the past 56 years of rule.

Rich Malays? Yes, BN govt has birthed Syed Mokhtar - Malaysian 8th richest and world's richest Malaysian Malay with an estimated net worth of US2.75 billion as of March 2013, Mukhzani & Mirzan - sons of 22-year ex-premier Mahathir, Shahril & Shahriman Shamsuddin, Halim Saad and several more..

Rich Chinese? Yes, they are Robert Kuok - Malaysian richest, Lim Kok Thay & family, Yeoh Tiong Lay, Vincent Tan and dozens more..
Richest Indians? Yes, Ananda Krishnan - Malaysia 2nd richest, G.Ganalingam, Anthony Fernandes, Vijay Eswaran and couple more.. but how many Malays, Chinese and Indians lived parallel lives of wealth with the above? Big homes, exotic cars and traveling to countries around the globe. In real life, many Malays, Chinese and Indians are struggling to stay afloat - no house, no car, in debt (some are massive) and not a ringgit of savings. Their dreams are moving from the garage life to the good life.

Govt's pre-election giveaway such as BR1M  may excites those who qualified, but is giving fish better than teaching them to fish? Or, are they made to be govt-dependent for specified and determined objective?
If there is 1 consolation for the Malays, it's the fact that they are dominant govt servants inclusive the police and the armed forces.

While some are successful in businesses of their own (without govt assistance), many are still finding the path towards engineering a
better standing.

What is the difference between the few and the many? The few are building their business empires fast & furious. The secret to their speedy success - the govt.

If we look at the above names, most if not all are whom people had labelled as cronies of the power-that-be. The many had to slog in the name of challenges and competitiveness and only the diehards survived. Some had to call it a day and end up driving taxis to meet end's need.

Cronyism have made the rich gets richer... and the time has come for the BN govt to seriously consider ending cronyism and perform market reforms. A stop! to awarding billions of dollars of project without tender. It's also high time that other Malaysians be given the opportunity to share the cake.

Mahathir irks when asked by reporters in 2012 about a contract worth RM836 million Petronas awarded to SapuraKencana Petroleum Sdn Bhd where his son Mokhzani is the Vice-Chairperson. Reporters asked if there would be a potential conflict of interest when he (Mahathir) is the advisor of Petronas. That's only one typical scenario where suspected cronyism and nepotism could have taken place.

While national debt ballooning to RM500 billion and rising, cronies continue laughing to the bank. Crony's glorifying wealth continue accumulating simply due to their warm and close relations to the political power and where power is used to suit personal interest. In short, nothing is positive out of cronyism except putting the nation in bad name at the same time augurs corruption and graft.

I am rather disappointed that the on-going Umno assembly is not used to correct what could have been wrong.  Many Umno delegates have delivered their speeches. I am speechless to have read report of a speaker, an Umno delegate from Federal Territories Affandi Zahari.

When the public are talking about accountability of public money, he is talking about safety of the First Lady of Malaysia (FLOM) Rosmah Mansor, the wife of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

I recalled a friend whose last position was a flight engineer with MAS Mr Eddy Eng. He told me, if a plane crash or fall (accident) it's a sheer human factor/error. Now, what is the difference between commercial jets and private jets? Both involve human factors. Thus, what is his assurance that private jets are better maintained than commercial jets? His speech is obviously an apple polishing, and made so carelessly until it makes no sense and not only sounds ridiculous but absurd.

I am just appalled at the standard of some Umno leaders. Correct me if I'm wrong, but with such standard of leaders in the ruling party Umno, can we expect anything extra-ordinary?
