Riza Aziz's purchase of a $33million dollar home in Manhattan and his ventures into the film industry in the United States via his Red Granite Pictures is becoming a subject of much interest and a common topic in many conversations.
Many quarters are just amazed at his financial strength which has drawn inevitable comment over his ability to have accumulated such an enormous amount of money at a young age.
Public are also puzzled as to how Riza (son to Rosmah Mansor & a step son to Prime Minister Najib Razak) has the capability into producing hundred(s) of million dollar movie(s), along with his purchase of the exclusive home from his own savings.
People are not convinced his 2002 - 2008 years of earning with the bank plus even with some investments (if any), in London could have enabled him accumulates such a huge money in short period of time.
That drives the public to form various opinions and among them, the likelihood of an illicit money outflow from this country into the hands of closely connected individuals including family members of the political elites.
While it's none of my business to find out whether or not his ventures into the industry would break the monopoly of the Jews in Hollywood movie world, my only concern (as a citizen) is whether his accumulated wealth has anything to do with money laundering or illicit money outflow from Malaysia.
JAIS' ACTIONS ON BSM A CONCERN?
The 1st day of 2014 witnessed JAIS' (Selangor Islamic Religious Dept.) 15 personnel and 2 policemen raided and confiscated more than 300 bibles from BSM's (Bible Society of Malaysia) office in Damasara Kim, Petaling Jaya following the Allah issue.
That development not only affecting people in Selangor, but throughout the country as it affects a religion.
Various quarters had voiced their opinions and views including a Malaysian MP from PR Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa who wrote in The Malaysian Insider that the action by JAIS has left an effect in interfaith relations in this country. Giving his 5 reasons, he urged Putrajaya to refrain JAIS from damaging the interfaith relations with such kind of raids.
Criticisms don't seem to come from the Christians community only, but citizens of other faiths.
I'm afraid, people from other religions (other than Islam) are watching with great interest as to how this issue would be resolved.
Taking into account of its sensitivity, the Allah issue has to be addressed/handled with extreme caution, maturity, sensitivity, immediate and most importantly, in most amicable manner to avoid serious repercussions.
A delay would only means turning it into a bad fiasco which has the potential to escalate negativity that could disrupt interfaith harmony.
It is equally important that there shouldn't be any provocation esp by pressure groups, individuals or even leaders of the ruling party as it could worsen the already 'tensed' situation. Provocateurs including leaders
of the govt, must be reprimanded and disciplined.
However, I am appalled at the extent of PM Najib's silence in this issue.
In other modern and democratic countries, he could have faced with a motion of no confidence in parliament.
Being the top leader (PM), he demonstrates in himself the lack of leadership as far as this issue is concerned and fearfully, his indifference in approach could lead the Allah issue into a catastrophe; at the expense of the country and its people.
His silence and/or no-action would only pave way for trouble makers to create turmoil.
The 'hostility' between Muslims and Christians are already seen at an agitating state and without prompt action to address and manage the issue, surely with utmost caution and sensitivity, the outcome could be expensive to pay.
Forget not, the world is also watching and following on every development on this issue as it involves Malaysian Christians and Christianity as a whole.
The people at large expect PM Najib to indicate his clear stance and take appropriate measure(s) and surely not a rhetoric one.
This (the Allah issue) is far more bigger than his Umno audience in recent party assembly.
Time is passing and as it continue to click, PM Najib must, without further due, tell the state institution and the masses that he is indeed the leader of this nation.
It would be a grave concern too, if this has anything to do with Umno party or the federal govt itself. In another words, a politically motivated move and not from the point of law.
Netizens are alleging this as govt's bid to divert public attention towards the slate of price hikes.
Last but never the least, people are hopeful that all parties be it the Muslims or the Christians, to remain calm and allow this sensitive issue be dealt without having to ruin interfaith relations, what more a crisis.
We certainly would not want to hear remark(s) by govt leader(s) asking anybody to leave the country for disagreeing.
