DYANA ITCHED UMNO LEADERS?.

Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud's candidacy for Democratic Action Party (DAP) in particular and Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in general has received peculiar attention by many leaders of the ruling party, Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

Umno (BN's single biggest party) leaders including Malaysia's 22-year former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad short at nothing from issuing statements on Dyana's party choice.

Like a rattle snake, they rattled as if they begin to feel it's going to be the end to their party's (coalition) more than 50 years dominance in Malaysia.

She must have created great deal of fear in some Umno leaders - from it's Women chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil  to former premier Dr Mahathir– who have all criticised Dyana for her party choice.

DAP's bold decision in selecting Dyana as candidate for Teluk Intan by-election proves to Malaysian Malays that other than Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS), they now have DAP as an option towards achieving their political aspirations.

On top of that, DAP also demonstrates it's recognition on youth and idealism unlike Umno/BN's norm of recruiting or appointing senior (some over-aged) leaders to the extent of re-cycling them as and when it becomes needful.

Ironically, Umno/BN top leaderships seemed fail to see that has been the reason young talent deserted them.

Call it a gamble and/or risk,  'DAP's gamble may pay-off'  the move could still be well received by Malaysians who are particularly supportive of the Malaysian Malaysia ideology and/or concept.

As it stands, more and more Malaysians especially at Dyana's age (generation) are in favour of the said ideology and/or concept since they preferred to be identified as Malaysians and not according to racial lines.

For the nation to move another notch, we require more of Dyana's generation to be groomed and certainly not recycling the expired ones.

Another interesting scenario is how Dyana, at her young age (26), has got the nerve to use her education (intelligence) and leadership capabilities in creating her own political path in a party which is a traditional foe to her own mother's Umno party.

It only shows that the young are now more than able to think and know precisely and dare to be different.

I can understand if Umno has to humiliate Dyana to prevent others from following her footsteps but to many wise thinking Malaysians, Umno's desperate act of ridiculing and attacking her  would only give more reasons for them to desert Umno.

Dr Mahathir's attack on Dyana

BN rep calls Dyana 'ungreatful'..

After 50 over years of independence, I'm appalled at how "gutter politics" are still used in almost all by-elections and/or general elections.

It's pathetic of Umno leaders to label Dyana as being a traitor to the party, a sell-out to her people, and a puppet to the DAP, among others - simply due to her choice of preferred political party.

Beside receiving criticism from Umno leaders, Dyana was made a target of an Internet smear campaign believed to be pro-BN bloggers and supporters.

I beleived, whatever political party she chooses to be with, it's entirely her own choice and that do not make her a traitor to her race, simply for not being a member of Umno like her family.

Umno top leadership's failure in restraining party members from resorting to "brutal" attacks against Dyana only reflects their total disregard to Islamic principles and values they themselves professed and embraced.

Instead of offering solutions to ease burdens of the people following price hikes, tarrif hikes, effect of GST and etc, they chose to discredit Dyana.
However, there is opinion that every disparaging remarks from Umno leaders means more votes for Dyana.

The choice in Dyana for the Teluk Intan by-election seems not only succesful in creating fear in some Umno leaders, but more importantly gave Umno a real wake-up call.
