Your hairs turning grey?
Your teeth started loosing one by one?
You noticed wrinkles on you face?
Your joints aching?
No worry, those are among signs of ageing! Though you could do everything to facelift your youthful being, there are always limitations to that. Ageing will come for sure! No exception, and ageing is like a truth to every lies as truth will eventually prevails.
Yesterday (Thursday), at approximately 8PM as I was just passing the town of Tanjung Karang for Sungei Besar for Eid al-Fitr visit, my vision was suddenly and severely "blurred" for seconds to the extent I couldn't see the road. Panicked and like a blind-folded I pulled the steering to the left (as in aviation practice).
I really cannot explain what was the "thing" that covered my vision, whether it was an unseen energy or reactions from my body.
Within split seconds, I could feel the car stopped abruptly and that it is in "diving" position and heard a bang. Recovered from shock, I wind down the windscreen on my right as I can feel the engine was still running and it was then that I noticed half-body of my car is inside a shallow ravine.
I got myself alighted from the car and "climbed' up to the land. Thank God! No physical injury and no concussion of any kind. I'm okay and there is no severe damage to the car.
Within couple of minutes, there was tens of "Mat Rempit". For the benefit of my foreign readers, here is the Link - Mat Rempit. At one glance, there was about 15 bikes or more with more still coming to the scene.
My perception of Mat Rempit has always been in common with popular perception of the public that they are a "bunch" of "useless teenagers" with crime related menace.
What surprised me is when one by one approached me and ask how am I doing, am I alright, Did I suffer any bodily injury and whether I am experiencing any form of body pain. "Relieved" with my admission, collectively they started to "work" on my car. Believe it or not, close to 30 teenagers "lifted" my car to the land. Yes, the strength of a bout 30 teenagers brought my car to the land. So happened, towing service was not handy perhaps, due to Eid celebration.
I strongly feel overwhelmed when one of them (looked like he had experience on cars) ask my permission to "inspect" the car. He checked my break oil, black oil and water level perhaps to spot if there is any leakage. Then, he ignited the engine and let it run for a while before turning to me and said,"The car is alright."
Feeling very fortunate to have received their help, I took out RM100 in two RM50 notes and gave it to the one who have inspected my car and told him it's my little gesture for their help and told him to bring everybody for some drinks.
What surprised me most is when he refused my RM100 and instead said RM50 is more than enough. He said,"You are in trouble already and we helped you sincerely."
"Stunned" for a moment with his explanation then I briefly thanked everybody for lending their hands on my car before leaving the scene for home.
While driving home, two things keep lingering in my head. The mysterious "thing" that blocked my vision and attitude of the Mat Rempits.
To keep my "fright" away, I stopped thinking of the former and "focussed" on the latter. My common perception on them (Mat Rempits) has drastically changed. Then I told myself, how unpredictable are people at times.
While briefly thanking them for their assistance, I did asked the one who accepted my RM50 a rather "blunt and straight forward question."
I told him that I have heard a lot that you guys are "bad people" and surprised that all of you helped me today. He replied,"Not all of us are bad people. "We like to "play cars" but simply we can afford it and only bikes that we can afford," he stressed. "We can't also afford to build tracks and that given us with no choice but to "play on the roads." he added. "Even some politicians are allegedly "robbed" national wealth!," he pointed out in sarcasm. I wanted to laugh when hearing his last line, but hold it and instead gave my nod.
At one time too, I was indeed saddened with the fact that most of the Mat Rempit are of my own race, the Malays. I just wonder, with all the billions of Ringgit the government had used to developed the nation, have they forgotten to develop these Mat Rempits towards becoming a better beings? Programs and opportunities to uplift their life and allow them to contribute in national building. Provide legal tracks for them "to play their bikes in proper manner" just like Futsal
I wonder, seriously, why the government has not effectively "turn negative energy into positive solutions". Where is the ministry in-charge of the youth? Should there been an on-going programs, why there still an "abundance" of Mat Rempits? This is the trouble when we have "incompetent" people heading ministries.
Selangor state chief minister (MB) crisis is still the main stories in major mainstream newspapers. Before this, honestly, I refused the mainstream newspapers as I noticed that they are very much inclined to the mainstream in their reporting. Always painted the good picture of the mainstream and as matter of fact, several of mainstream newspapers wrote like they are from the mainstream political party.
I was kind of dependant to alternative media especially the alternative media portals. When several of them are seen starting to "copy paste" what the mainstream newspapers are doing for the mainstream political party(ies), I started to read selected mainstream newspaper for check and balance.
A pro-opposition myself (until this article is written), I found of late, couple on-line alternative portals had excessively shown their biassed reporting and went overboard as if they are the spokesmen of the opposition. What I have always wanted is for the alternative media to report factual news, be it on People's Pact (PR) or the ruling party Barisan Nasional (BN).
The Malaysian Insider (along with others such as Malaysiakini), the portal I consistently seek political information, has recently gave me a wake-up call. Like others, if I don't feel justified for the mainstream newspapers to write a lob-sided report, I would feel the same if the alternative media print and portals are doing the same for the opposition.
Like how my perception was drastically changed in Mat Rempits over their dignified attitude when I have a situation, my perception on People's Justice Party (PKR) is, changing, though slowly, especially after the Kajang Move and the on-going tussle over the MB post of Selangor.
We now see how Kajang Move has caused PR in a shambles. PKR, PAS and DAP are at loggerheads over PKR's plan to replace Selangor MB from it's own party TS Khalid Ibrahim with wife of DS Anwar Ibrahim, DS Dr Wan Azizah.
I'm beginning to "see" allegations by those from the other divide that Anwar, being the de facto leader of PKR "took side" in his party's internal bickering and that he "made use" his wife Azizah to achieve his "personal agenda", making some sense. Other than PKR party president who is "qualified" to replace Khalid, Azizah is also Anwar's wife which by norm, it's only appropriate for any wife to be obedient and faithful to her husband. Azizah has shown her "worthiness" since Anwar was sacked from Umno party and government in 1998.
Instead of initiating a table talk to overcome the problem, resolving with a win-win situation to his bickering divisions in PKR, Anwar's silence and indecisiveness which led the conflict to have reached a crisis stage is very much regretted.
It will be greed - NOT Barisan Nasional - that is likely to bring PR's downfall, said Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM). It's secretary-general S.Arutchelvan was reported to have said, the issues confronting both PKR and PAS in the current crisis reminded him of the Kota Damansara seat grab orchestrated by PAS in 13th general election (GE13).
Anwar could have settled the the conflicts amicably if it was confined to and negotiated within party channels. Anwar is not only seen failed to hold his leaders together, but unable to curb issuance of unwarranted statements by his leaders which could be detrimental to PKR and PR.
The fact remains that it is not only Dr Zuhudi who has strongly criticised Anwar, but many others even "small-fly" like me, have criticised the Kajang Move and replacement of Khalid on twitter, but is he hearing?.
To me, it's the person who leaked the WhatsApp conversation is a traitor as he/she leaked only 11 lines of Zuhdi's remarks which PAS central committee member Nasrudin Hassan Tantawi claimed it should fill 115 A4-sized pages of the two-day group conversation.
An unwise act of the individual who released excerpts (11 lines) of the conversation, equally unwise are leaders of PR themselves who reacted with strong criticisms based on the 11 lines conversation. A silly act which further threatens inter-party relations rather than improving it. They should have been more prudent and careful in their statements and not resort to cheap publicity by being seen as popular leaders without getting the full facts. No doubt, if Zuhdi's "racist and extremist" branded remarks are found to be authentic, there is no reason for anybody not to condemn, but don't "bark" when it is still at "facebook" level.
Look, especially to outspoken leaders of PR over the MB issue and the WhatsApp issue, Selangor residents are fed-up with all the infighting within the opposition. What they want is an end to the MB tussle. What they want is for the (state) government to go on without interruptions.
Many in Selangor have described Anwar's move to oust MB Khalid as hanging dirty linen in public, not keeping to it's 13GE manifesto. The tussle disrupted the state to an extent as if the the party is not even running a (state) government.
Many also opined that Anwar could have handled the situation better by giving Khalid a gracious passage instead of bringing the matter into the limelight.
Pakatan must also realise that running a state is never a straight cut. It must have a combination of political and corporate. If Khalid is lacking in politics, that's the area to be given attention for improvement as his strength on corporate is proven. It's still a better bet for Selangor rather that having him replaced for one who seriously lacking in both fields.
As Khalid still needs PKR's nod to continue running the state, let' see how PKR resolve it and interesting to see if Anwar succumbed to the demand and pressure of a faction in his party.
I can understand if Khalid would lose Anwar's "mandate" for people like deputy president Azmin Ali. Ezam Md Nor "coceded" to Azmin and chose to abandon Anwar and the party. Azmin and Ezam knew too much of Anwar. Perhaps, Anwar can't afford to "loose" Azmin for one reason or another.
At the end of the day, Umno/BN is the one "laughing to the bank!!."
