Repeatedly said, other than sharing common home-town - I am not in any way related, obligated nor associated with him except, "politically". Politically, at my capacity of being a supporter of Malaysian Opposition.
The Malaysian Opposition - which means any party(ies) under the umbrella of the alliance pact or anything but the ruling Umno/BN.
The logic is, I would support politicians from any of the alliance pact, and that Khalid is, at time this article is written, still the incumbent MB of (state) Selangor, and still a legitimate member of People's Justice Party (PKR), a member to the alliance pact.
Now, the shouts of "Kick Khalid out", "Kick Khalid out", had been loud enough. Calls coming from a segment of leaders & supporters within PKR, a segment from within People's Pact (PR) and of-course - the cyber-troopers.
Among others - they claimed that Khalid is not a good leader, not a good listener, not even listening to the experts citing the cause of water shortages as example. What he has done best in his first term in office was nothing more than cost cutting and saving money.
There is even people who asked which school Khalid had went to and what university he enrolled himself, and that how did he managed PNB and Gutherie - must have been disastrous.
The same person also implies how would he manage Putrajaya - where development such as in defence, education, health let alone foreign affairs of which Khalid the Shylock can't even understand.
The same person also implies how would he manage Putrajaya - where development such as in defence, education, health let alone foreign affairs of which Khalid the Shylock can't even understand.
Some equate him with top world footballers - regardless of who they are, when the red card is flashed, he must leave the field.
Since Khalid is appointed to MB and not elected, and that he won the election under PKR's ticket, he must go as and when the party wants him to do so.
They said Khalid is selfish, shameless, arrogant, can't even manage the rubbish, water, and etc, and only concerned with his own survival, and that his Umno/BN "friendliness" made him looks their stooge, and that the Jais controversy, Water, Kidex issues were designated by Putrajaya of which he has fallen into their trap.
These people claimed when PR takes over Putrajaya, there would not be any more conflict and that Selangor residents would benefit every bit.
There is even people who came up with his own so-called "analysis" and among others, he accused Khalid as being "politically naive." Thus, Khalid must go! Nothing more pertinent or relevant.
Now, remember 13th general election (GE13)?
They (including people who are now critical of Khalid) used to sing song of praises for him, putting it on billboards, let alone the fiery GE13 campaign speeches, for that, Selangor under Khalid gained an additional 8 seats, better than that of Penang which secured an additional one.
Now, they want Khalid be removed, thus, denying whatever phrases they had showered him, but what about after he is ousted? What is the next course?
When DS Anwar was sacked from party and the government and subsequently went through agonizing ordeal in 1998, these are the lines I used to hear during the "reformasi" movement rallies.
"If our number two man is treated in such a manner (referring to police brutality and alleged abuse of the judiciary), will you get a better treatment in this land?.
"This is not about Anwar, it's about justice! We must reform, Reformasi!!
I laughed at the author of the article so-called "analysis". His long-windedness only demonstrates himself of being a very naive person.
Of late, there have been a lot of statements especially comments by several opposition leaders, members & supporters and of course, the cyber-troopers in social network and the alternative media, but of all comments I have read, this comment made me smile.
"Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim is easily Malaysia's Jokowi, who stand by his principle and integrity, reluctant to be pushed around by political wrangling & favours. Is this debacle has something to do with Anwar wanting to turn Selangor's reserve into his personal war-chest?"
With due respect to these leaders, members & supporters and the cyber-troopers, their hard criticisms against Khalid's administration are seen being more of personal and emotional views, with some make sense while many are senseless. No proposals or solutions offered.
How would you digest comment that said Khalid has done nothing except hijacking the party that has worked so hard for takeover of Putrajaya? He is nothing but a crook.
Surprisingly, several leaders within PKR and the pact (PR) jumped into the bandwagon.
They insulted Khalid nothing less than how they insulted Umno/BN and it's leaders, forgetting the fact that Khalid is a member of their own party and/or pact they affiliated with.
How about this - Khalid may be wrong, but If may ask, can Anwar, Azmin, Rafizi and others are ALL right? Are they perfect?
What made Khalid to recently question PR's intention of using the state (Selangor) as a stepping stone to Putrajaya? What is so wrong of him in saying that the move "does not fulfil the needs of the people of Selangor"? Isn't there any basis of truth?
Is Khalid also wrong to have proposed that the opposition get a "new mandate from the people" in the next election to implement the Putrajaya project through Selangor?
If Kajang Move engineered by PKR's "brilliant architect" can fail and now in a shamble, what is the guarantee that things will get any better after Khalid is "kicked-out"?
Are there any tangible plans to guarantee this? What are their actual plans? Lay it on the table so that voters could scrutinize it with an open mind.
If PR wanted to use Selangor as a showcase to rule Malaysia based on social justice policies, democratic principles and values and good governance, first they must show how they handle the removal of Khalid as not to negate future showcase(s).
For whatever he has done for the party and state, doesn't he deserve some grace even if it means relinquishing his position?
What happened in Selangor not only has negated such a showcase, but ruined whatever they have built.
Do they realise that many have already been saying PR is no different to BN, unlike popular opinion before that PR is better than BN.
Actually speaking, all the hustle-bustle could have been avoided if only Khalid was not re-appointed MB after GE13. His first term in office should have been more than sufficient to spot all his weaknesses, but the irony is, it was all praises for him in GE13 election campaigns.
That is why I said, Kajang Move (initiated in less than a year after GE13) could have been designed by several leaders within PKR for agenda only best known to them - but backfired?.
Was it not for this reason that Anwar's sodomy II appeal was brought forward and subsequently, the court found him guilty even before he could submit his candidacy for the Kajang by-election? No?
I like to believe, it was! and that could be why they have done it.
To those who still believe Kajang Move is correct and proper, who believe that anybody including Azizah could administer Selangor better than that of Khalid, who believe it's going to be an effective people's government that eradicate corrupt practices, that could serve as testimony that they can administer the country the moment they wrestled Putrajaya, that PR would not encounter hindrances in whatever they wish to do for Selangor, I beg that they observe first how the Khalid issue is resolved.
Why?
If there is no political ability and maturity in handling Khalid's issue, would there be ability and maturity to handle the state let alone the nation.
Now, for no reason, Azizah has to "safeguard" the fort for once too often in Anwar's absence (taking into account the speedy guilty verdict the court has delivered to him) as if, there is no other way of doing it.
And now Azizah is "burdened" to "safeguard" Selangor too in the absence of Anwar. Isn't this an unfortunate truth? Have all those "barking" against Khalid asked PR what is their post-Anwar agenda?
They branded Khalid as being "stingy", but little do they realise his act of "protecting" Selangor's RM3 billion in reserve is done in the best interest of Selangorian taxpayers themselves from a potential usage by PR to finance election cost that would serve interests of the non-Selangorians.
Fine, Khalid is "stingy" with the RM3 billion as he "does nothing" with it to benefit the people of Selangor, but the sum of RM3 billion is not that huge for a developing state, and if he is not prudent with it, Selangor's coffer could dry very quickly, and Khalid must have realised that.
Call it "gathering dust" if you like, but it could still be better than having nothing in time of need.
With the un-resolved MB issue and consequential uncertainty, I'm not sure how relevant is still Kajang Move and Selangor a stepping stone to Putrajaya, but I would say they would be lucky enough if they could retain Selangor in GE14.
Selangorians in particular and Malaysians in general are confounded whether Anwar values his objectives and goals edging the aspirations of the people.
Honestly, what worries me is still, PR post-Anwar.
The question (other than could his wife Azizah become a better MB for Selangor, if appointed) is, can Azizah hold the three parties in the alliance together?
If you are observant enough, look at the way Anwar and Azmin tried to "kick" Khalid out of MB. "Smell" that typical approach like what is seen in Umno?
They had the opportunity to govern Selangor state, but if they can't govern it well let alone excel, how could you expect people would trust them with a nation?
The trouble is, we have too many "empty vessels make the most noise", so to speak.
Shouting-out loud with their "emptiness" and failing to observe the broader picture. They enjoyed hurling curses to an extent of making them as malicious as those of the race and religious bigots. Their comments surrounding the issue of "getting rid" of Khalid is a testimony.
Anwar is treating Khalid just like Tun Mahathir has treated him in 1998. No?
The heat at mid-day today was so fierce that I could feel it piercing into my skin!
This is what an all-summer-round Malaysia is all about. The heat can be as "hot" as the controversial issues plaguing the land. The heat these days might have made it almost unbearable for our western friends on vacation here.
Nevertheless, I still consider myself lucky, though being in one of the hottest location on earth (located nearest to the equator) almost all my lifetime, God has permitted me to be at one of world's coldest point - the peak of Mt Titlis in Switzerland during winter, with temperature hitting -25 (minus) degree Celsius!
Got the feel of the hottest and coldest - I guess, I shouldn't be complaining.
What I need to complain is the "tortoise" road-work upgrading progress on a trunk-road from Ijuk to Bestari Jaya under the Kuala Selangor MP constituency - the constituency Barisan Nasional (BN) re-captured from People's Pact (PR) in GE13.
Since trunk roads are under the jurisdiction of the federal government, they (BN government) halted it's upgrading work soon after Selangor fell to PR in 2008 general election.
Left in idle state for many years, works resumed recently, but the rate it is going - I'm not sure, when could it be completed.
As though, the less than 10 kilometre stretch upgrade work is "dragged" till 14th general election to be used as "negotiating tool" for them to retain the Kuala Selangor constituency.
It's no more an open secret for BN government to profile constituencies or even states under the opposition control.
Remarks towards that effect were frequently uttered by several leaders of the ruling party whenever comes the election, especially the by-elections.
This typical "discriminatory" treatment by BN government however, is nothing new. They must have forgotten that all voters and people of constituencies and/or states under the opposition contributed to the federal coffer through various taxes.
BN would give all priority in the world to constituencies and/or states that continue being loyal to them. Thus, it samples the level of hardship, voters of the opposition have to go through by giving their vote to them.
Sadly we still have leaders with "inferior mentality", squabbling for positions and rest personal interests above all.
The more I think about the MB tussle in Selangor, the more I get pissed-off. If a strong supporter like me (who had given my vote(s) in last three GEs to the opposition) could now contemplating of not giving my continued vote(s) in GE14 out of protest, what about those contemplating to vote the opposition for the first time?
The steps of several "smart" leaders within PR to out-smart the smarts has in the end backfires and the consequential impact not only felt by themselves but the party, people and state.
