No other topic, conversations are centred to the controversial Selangor chief minister's (MB) post and it's incumbent MB, TS Khalid Ibrahim himself as I visited friends on first day of Eid celebration.
In between visits, I browsed the net to find out what netizens wrote on the same, from both political divide, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Barisan Nasional (BN). I thought it would be good to hear both sides. Like a coin, it always has two faces. By being able to "see both faces of the coin", we may be "safe" from fanaticism in politics.
Followings are among what I have gathered, written views and comments by supporters on the net and verbal feedback from friends of both divide whom I met on Eid.
If we go through one by one of what are listed below, surely, we could categorize each of them respectively, but each opinion or view is an opinion of it's bearer, much as he/she is entitled to.
PRO PR SUPPORTERS' OPINIONS & VIEWS.
- Hj Hadi is a kampung (village) leader. He has nothing to offer to his people other than miseries. Intelligent leaders are those who have forsight which Hadi has no idea what it's all about.
- Kelantan is going to BN in GE14. Hj Hadi as a MB of Terengganu lost it to BN in 2004. Kedah under PAS lost it to BN in the 2013 elections. May be HJ Hadi already sensed this and he is trying to cut a deal with Umno/BN. His son in law already has a good deal from Khalid and no wonder Hadi is working for Khalid to protect his son's interest.
- PAS' popularity under Hj Hadi will go back to the 2004 lines. PAS has no future without non-Muslim support and and anti-Umno Malays. Good bye Hadi.
- When an Islamic party leader has self interest above party interest then it's called "tidak amanah" simply means not trustworthy.
- This issue is not whether he is good or bad. He was made MB by his party. If his party wants him out so be it. If he is bad then he has to go. If he is staying because he claims PKR is bad then both he and PKR have to go. Why is he staying in PKR if he claims they are out to cheat Selangor. Leave PKR.
- If PAS leaders cannot work as a Team Player then there is NO PLACE for PAS to become part of the government. They have forgotten why they lost some states?
- PAS has to grow up. They can no longer say that they have respect for their leader and whatever their leader says is what they will do. That is too medieval and if reasons that PKR has laid out for Khalid's removal is ignored then we have big issue with PAS.
- Why won't Hadi respect the PR council is a mystery. May be Hadi should have a seat in the PR council but if he is a member but did not attend then he has to blame himself.
- PAS will become a rural based party if they withdraw from PR. The professional in PAS can join DAP and PKR.
- PAS won't make the country progress as it is controlled by a group of conservative religious people. They can't move according to the world changes. They only believe in religious teaching instead of science and technology. It has different goal comparing with PKR and DAP.
- Why does PAS support Khalid instead of the group decision of the PKR and the DAP who won more seats in MP? Can it be that Khalid has promised PAS something in return in term of religious issue? You after me, I look after you principle applies?
- PAS is definitely not fit to be in PR, the simple reason is that it has a different goal...religion only. Whereas the PKR and DAP have many qualified professionals who are open, receptive and changed according to the world requirement.
- The best solution is for Khalid to step down voluntarily regardless of the support he gets from the conservative PAS colleagues.
- I think Khalid has a specific agenda to stay on as MB. He needs to fulfil his promises - probably not for the rakyat! (people). An honest politician do not behave like that.
- Even the common man in the street knows Khalid shortcomings except some PAS leaders!! This is more like protecting ones turf but giving excuse to cover it up. Unless the leaders are still asleep, they don't know what's happening after all these months of wrangling!!.
- I think it is not because of he likes Khalid, but because he (Hadi) can't accept a woman MB.
- We all need a 2 party system in this country and we can only hope not to see PAS pulling out of PR over the MB matter as we voters need a choice in the election of a government, state or federal. Perhaps to PAS it's a matter of principle that as long as nor reasons to remove Khalid who fights corruption, cronyism, etc (PR manifesto) other than so called unilateral decisions on important issues and so called "mistakes" which is not to the liking of PKR trio and of which PAS sees it as an internal political power conflict within PKR.. the action PAS can take is allow the Selangor PAS state assemblymen a free hand to vote yes or no or to abstain and we voters who voted in GE13 feels that this be allowed amongst all the PR state lawmakers to vote freely and not under the whip.. this is democracy in action and we will vote for PR in GE 14 if, this matter is settled in a democratic way..this way is also being very fair to Khalid and us, rakyat.
- I would say, sack Khalid anyway and let there be a snap election. Kick PAS out of PR and invite good PAS members to join PKR. Once and for all, get rid of PAS who at the moment got the limelight from PKR and DAP.
- Well, perhaps in those seats won by PAS last elections, they can be contested and won by candidates from the remnant PR after PAS leave the coalition? May be that is a positive with less MPs supporting hudud post GE 14?
- It is a no brainer. PM or MB must be someone who have the majority support of the party. In the case of Khalid, he don't even enjoy the support from his party. Since Khalid no longer enjoy the support from his own party then he should accept the decision of the party and resign as MB accordingly. If Khalid refuse to resign, he knows he will loose the MB eventually, but worst still, he will loose whatever credibility he has.
- As for PAS, they have to appoint those they respect to PR council. If Hadi does not respect his own representatives, then he might as well attend the council itself. PAS should know, without majority of the people support, PAS is nothing.
- Khalid contest under the PKR ticket, won under PKR ticket, going against the party supreme council and president seek back up from another party..PAS or Umno is no difference. Isn't there any disciplinary board or action to expel such member? Is he still qualified to be MB without a party? Is it acceptable for someone to MB if they betray his party?
- This entire scenario has revealed who Khalid Ibrahim is and of course what opportunist PAS really are. The DAP must now aid and help the PKR grow stronger so that PR with these two multi-religious parties become the foundation for a truly united Malaysia.
- Hello friendly Malaysians - Can someone please point out in bullet forms what has Khalid done right or to the betterment of Selangor after 2 terms as MB? Take this challenge - let all readers see his good work here, give him a fair go.. What has he done that others could never do including Wan Azizah? Just what?
- My admiration for Umno for keeping a dignified silence amid all the squabbles. The resoluteness of Khalid is an inspiration for all. Khalid is our last hope against corruption, nepotism and racism that is beginning to show in PR. At last, Anwar has found his true nemesis. Khalid has shown that he is not a pushover.
PRO BN SUPPORTERS' OPINIONS AND VIEWS.
Since Anwar has admitted that Kajang Move was engineered to oust Khalid from office, all reasons and justifications about "attack from Umno", "BN wanted to create a state of emergency in Selangor" and other reasons he, Kajang Move architect Rafizi Ramli and PKR deputy president Azmin Ali told the people are lies.
- Anwar has lied not only to the people, but PR's component parties and the leadership over the Kajang Move. What is the guarantee that he won't lie again?
- The real reasons behind Kajang Move was to settle internal dispute between the MB and Azmin and that the move is to pave way for Azmin to become Selangor MB.
- The use of state of emergency in Selangor was to convince the people for the Kajang by-election and Kajang Move, as should to resolve PKR's internal bickering is used, they fear it will not go down well with the people.
- Are all allegations levelled at Khalid true? Perhaps Khalid has not collected his fair share from Kidex & Water?
- Talking about cronyism, aren't Anwar and Lim Guang Eng practice the same?
- Isn't Anwar practiced nepotism?
- Unlike Anwar and Guan Eng, Khalid is more aligned to the people.
- Many had made their conclusion from the team who wanted to ouster Khalid from office, those aligned to the team (leaders and supporters) becoming their spokesmen. Party leaders, members and supporters have so often become willing parrots, and performing the task of regurgitating every word of their idols, word by word, rather than think of what their idols have said and judge it for themselves whether what is said is correct or not. They became like idiot (sorry to mention that) basing on the way most of the commenters putting down their comments.
- Did Kajang Move get the blessing of DAP and PAS right from the start? Isn't the decision was forced upon DAP and PAS? Given no choice, DAP and PAS supported PKR in order to retain Kajang. Similarly in the case of their decision to force DAP and PAS to agree. Don't you ever want to find out what the actual reason on Kajang Move, the Kajang by-election? Did PKR informed PAS and DAP right from the beginning of their intention? Even Lim Guan Eng did not know about the Kajang Move in advance!
- Pas president DS Hj Hadi and DS Nik Aziz were right as removal of MB should become inevitable in the event of scandal, criminal breach of trust or other matters to that effect. In Khalid's case, it's more of differences with PKR leaders critical of him.
- As far as water issue is concerned, have we heard of any alternative solution, be it short term or long term from Anwar or Azmin? PR.. You were given the chance to show Umno how to govern and administer Selangor and looks like you have failed and if Umno/BN takes Selangor back from you, you deserve it. The victims are the people of Selangor who had worked hard at the last polls.
- Not all about Kidex have been finalised. the state government could still pull the plug if they don't meet the criteria. Every single highway plan by BN get resistance and objection, but eventually the highway is heavily used.
- As for Bible and Allah issue, there are various factors that would limit the MB's ability to resolve it, such as the court case and/or ruling, the Sultan of Selangor factor, PAS and many others.
- Khalid may not be a good politician, but when he sees a problem, he would find ways to resolve it, and he doesn't lie to the people thus, is this (his removal) worth it? Is kicking Khalid out such an important issue that YOU (ohh come on, don't think we don't know whose hand it is behind all these editorials and all these sources within this and that party) are willing to risk it.
- It is commendable of Khalid for not allowing his own party to utilise State Government funds for party use.
- Who would prevent Azizah or Azmin of using the state coffers for their party use?
- Even should Khalid needs to be removed, in the name of party unity, why it's not done according to principle and values of democracy?
- The party with the least seat in Selangor calling the shots? Do you want a coalition like BN? where MCA, MIC and Gerakan are subservient to Umno? PAS and DAP cannot and should not be a Yes Men to PKR like the MCA, MIC and Gerakan are to Umno. Right now Hadi and Nik Aziz are a voice of a segment of the rakyat who are against the Kajang move. Don't gag them and deny the people's right to voice out differing views.
- Anwar and Azmin are power crazy - they want to get the MB seat and they want it NOW! It has nothing to do with religious and racial chauvinism, it got nothing to do with conservatism, in fact, Anwar and Azmin are more racially chauvinistic than Khalid Ibrahim.
- They always accuse that Utusan speaks for Umno, but look at TMI? When we are talking about Anwar and Azmin attempted to kick Khalid out of the MB seat, we have TMI speaking on behalf of PR? TMI have published too many articles siding with Azmin and against Khalid, and many of it's editorial are nothing more than lip sync pieces of what Anwar and Azmin have said. Just because Hj Hadi doesn't think that what Anwar and Azmin are doing is correct, it does not mean that agreeing with Hj Hadi will automatically steer PAS back into the old racially chauvinistic days.
- None of their allegation against Khalid can withstand the best logic - none of their accusations make sense and how is this problem in Selangor PAS' fault again? Just because they cannot agree to all the internal scheming of PKR, now it's because Hj Hadi is a Kampung (village) leader and what not? You can't even answer the questions that was raised by him in the first place.
- What has Khalid done that all sorts of plans and schemes (not forgetting money wasted on a totally irrelevant by-election) needed to be done to replace him? He doesn't listen to people? You are willing to destroy the Alliance because "he does not listen to people". How childish is that?
- Look at all the negative votes that some of the highly regarded posters are getting just because they are defending Khalid and I know for a fact that TMI is now controlled by the same schemers who are trying to bring down Khalid.
- Let the Selangor electorate decide not the handful of PKR elite. Snap elections. Just because PAS does not want to succumb to the entire PKR internal drama, don't fault them. "...and back onto the narrow road of conservatism and religious and racial chauvinism?" Seriously? Because they don't want to nod meekly to Anwar's scheming? You are notably silent on how the Azmin-Khalid feud and Anwar's lacklustre response to solving it has led to this mess, and jeopardized PR as a whole. Follow the proper procedure to remove Khalid. Then, if he goes, so be it. All we have to go on, right now, is PKR's constant barrage of propaganda against their own man. What was Anwar's own solutions to Kidex-Bible-water? Can't remember? Don't blame you.
