IT'S TIME TO BE MORE RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE.

I'm not sure if all of you would agree if I say, life and death all a part of nature. A friend used to remind me,"What goes up must (eventually) come down."

Only fate will determine how we would leave the world, where and when. Some are "lucky" to have their tombstones near their home, surrounded by their surviving family members, who can at least visit their graves once a year while some "unlucky" ones may not have tombstones at all except ashes integrated with debris of jet planes. So are passengers/crew of MH370, MH17 and other planes receiving similar fate. May God rest their souls.

Like other issues and situations that have plagued the country, there are now speculations surrounding tragedies of both MH370 and MH17.

People speculate upon spotting weaknesses or sensed something improper on the part of respective authorities.

For MH17 for instance, there have been questions like - Has cost been the factor for MAS to continue with a "war zone" route when other international airlines have abandoned it? Has all that got anything to do with their billions Ringgit of debts? Are debts affecting MAS' judgement? When other Asian carriers had, for safety reasons, taken the measure of avoiding the Ukraine route though they have to pay more, why not with our airlines?

We used to read in media reports of some politicians and civil servants in high places relinquished their positions out of disgrace for failing to do a good job.

These category of people are those whom I regard, people with strong sense of responsibility and accountability - fast in recognizing their own weaknesses, there are more than willing and prepared to pay for their mistakes.

However, such an attitude has yet to be exhibited by any of our politicians or civil servants since independence, though there had been hue and cry coming from various quarters over numerous issues that has plagued the nation.

At this stage, I don't have any clue, perhaps not even one has the answer as to why Malaysia is agonized with rampant calamity, especially incidents involving Malaysian Airlines aircraft - in less than five months.

Muslims do believe for any trial/catastrophe, it is part of sin redemption while on earth. Thus rise the question - Have we been committing too many sins? Again, I don't have a clue.

In aviation, the search (ongoing) for MH370 created a history as it is now considered the longest and most expensive.
