MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, WE "CAKAP TAK SERUPA BIKIN." (TALK DIFFERENT, BUT DO DIFFERENTLY)
More often than not, we "Cakap tak serupa bikin" (Talk different, but do differently).
For convenience sake, call it "unaware", we tend to expect much from others but little did we realized that we offer too little or none in return.
We want space in the disguise of bringing up our voices, we want among others - transparency, integrity, credibility, honesty and we even talk about moderation. Some claim moderation is our only way.
At the same time, we neglect the need to have a balance between freedom of expression, respect/approbation, maturity, awareness, knowledge and tolerance which form the pillars to moderation.
Space in the social media for instance, is used to ridicule and criticize other race and religion, hurl abusive words and phrases, spread manufactured slanders, hatred, derogatory remarks, pornography. We are also seeing works of "extremism" rampant on the social media. While they are contented in labeling others extremist, race and religious bigots, little that they realized their actions resemble them as alike.
Thus when the government (BN) is contemplating of imposing some restrictions such as barring access to Facebook, they were all bobbing and screaming that the government is laying a tombstone for free expression in Malaysia.
Any responsible government would do just that should abuse in irresponsible acts on social media platforms becoming a threat to unity and harmony.
The Selangor MB crisis.
The crisis stretch out with the dust expected not to settle any time sooner. Reasons being - Transition process and an audience with the Selangor Sultan consume time especially when the Sultan himself is reported to leave for overseas and would only return on Aug 23.
Following his expulsion, it is only natural of Khalid to seek an audience with the Sultan to formally inform His Royal Highness the Sultan that his party membership with PKR has been terminated and that he is now an independent assemblyman.
He may also advise the Sultan to call for a special sitting of the state legislative assembly. The Sultan can refuse as he has the constitutional power to do just that.
Any move by PR/PKR to pass a vote of no-confidence against Khalid will have to wait until the audience is granted and the call for a special sitting agreeable by the Sultan.
PR (People's Pact) needs a simple majority in state assembly (29 votes in case of Selangor) before it could submit the new proposed names to be considered by the Sultan.
Should PR failed to secure the required 29 votes, Khalid would be seen as still enjoying confidence of the assembly. This would complicate matter further for PKR's plan to nominate Anwar's wife, Azizah.
Interestingly, Khalid has been reported of not appealing his expulsion, this strengthened speculation of him joining other party, most probably, PAS.
Khald said,"The Selangor Council of the Royal Court meeting will be held tomorrow and I will discuss the matter with Sultan Sharifuddin Idris Shah after the meeting.
"So, any decision from me will only be announced after my meeting with the Sultan," he told reporters here yesterday.
Like Anwar's "little faith" on Malaysian judiciary over his cases before, Khalid has said he would not challenge the sacking as he had little faith in the party's appeal process.
Now, will there be a rumble when top PAS leadership has indicated that the party intends to propose a second name for the palace to consider, but still from PKR?
At the moment, PR's status as a coalition seems not under any threat of breaking up following PAS president Abdul Hadi quashing rumors that PAS was planning to quit PR coalition when he met his counterparts on Saturday night.
While Lim Kit Siang is gratified with Hadi's stance of staying put with the alliance, PKR may have problem with Azizah's nomination.
It is learnt that PAS will not accept Azizah for MB and that if DAP insists on endorsing her, PAS would proceed to name a second candidate for the Sultan to consider.
PAS expected an MB that could perform all religious duty of a leader to it's optimum and that could not be possible for Azizah being a woman.
As I have earlier written, the fact that Azizah is Anwar's wife, not only PAS but majority Selangorians are more than concerned of her becoming a puppet MB for Selangor, with his husband Anwar himself, other than Azmin Ali, Rafizi Ramli or Saifuddin Nasution pulling the strings from the rear.
The Kajang Move could have dented PAS' trust of Anwar, at the same time, PAS leaders also distrust PKR's strategic director Rafizi.
Other than arrogant, they see Rafizi as the person "responsible" for the "disarray" that has enveloped the coalition.
His ideas have resulted the pact to flounder with hazard, one after another. The so-called roadshow to explain why Azizah should replace Khalid is also the "innovation" of Rafizi and colleague, Saifuddin who is the party's secretary-general which turned out to be a Khalid bashing session.
It was reported that even some party leaders within PKR are appalled of such event to run down Khalid. As a matter of fact too, many at grass-root level have indicated their displeasure of Rafizi.
Some questioned, how the agile "rat-catcher" cannot smell Khalid's wrongdoings when he's so good at smelling wrongdoings of leaders of the opposite divide.
People of Selangor especially, are puzzled why PKR/PR chose to reveal Khalid's wrongdoings and negative elements of his administration now and not earlier.
Simply puzzled because even at the recent Kajang by-election, Opposition leaders still sang phrases of Khalid, complimenting him for being efficient and hardworking.
Now that there is a crisis, opposition leaders made a U-turn, changed their tune and took turns in discrediting or criticizing Khalid.
Selangorians also asked, why now? Was there a cover-up? Would the revelations surface should there be no crisis in Selangor?
Another thing, PAS has seen Azizah from "close-range". They could possibly know her strength and weaknesses and/or limitations.
Equally interesting is, if she has gone through all comments of her thousands of friend-list on Facebook, she would notice that majority of the people are less than convinced of her being the right candidate for Selangor MB.
It's now a known fact why Khalid's sacking was rushed. When Khalid and his lawyers were planning to file for an injunction over the matter, that would mean dragging the crisis. That was when they "quickly" sacked him.
Deadlock in PR (People's Pact) is hurting the state and at the expense of it's people. The political disarray in Selangor could cost PR the state should crisis is not resolved quickly and effectively, let alone the dream of capturing Putrajaya.
