In an Eid al-Fitri open-house I attended yesterday (Sunday) in Kampung Kuantan which falls under Kuala Selangor parliamentary constituency under Barisan Nasional (BN), I was "trapped" in the company of many unknown people (guests of the event host) obviously belonged to Umno clan.
Beginning to feel uncomfortable is one thing, hearing what I don't like to hear, is another. It does strike in my heart then of trying to leave early, on second thought, I'd better stay for sometime in respect of my school-mate host. I would want him to have the impression that I am anti-social.
In all my one hour or so stay, what I heard are all criticisms leveled at Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and it's leaders. Though I had been criticizing them in my several articles, I knew my friend-list comprised of PR supporters.
Thus my criticisms were meant as reminders, if they feel constructive is subjective. However, I would not criticize PR in front of Umno/BN supporters for obvious reasons.
As usual (since 'outbreak' of the Selangor MB crisis), the common conversation and/or criticisms are surrounding the fiasco of unresolved MB (chief minister) post of (state) Selangor.
I had to "hold my horse" realizing the fact that I'm out-numbered by the Umno clan. Should I started rebutting their argument, it could possibly lead to a tensed conversation of which, could "contaminate" the Eid celebration itself other than attracting attention of the other guests who may not enjoy to hear about politics. And it won't be fair to the host.
Followings are some the criticisms and arguments that I could recall while writing this article-
01- Wan Azizah (PKR president and Anwar's wife) don't fit the bill to be Selangor MB as she is not a Selangor resident.
02- The Selangor MB post crisis is yet, another evidence that PR don't fight for the interest of the people accept fulfilling ambitious desires of Anwar Ibrahim (PKR de facto leader).
03- For a leader who has done/proven his best in administering the state, PKR treatment on Khalid Ibrahim is unfair to him.
04- Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has consented Khalid Ibrahim to continue administrating the state as it's MB. Actions by PKR and the DAP "pressing" the decision by the Sultan samples disrespect to the royal institution.
05- The Selangor MB crisis has demonstrated PKR's failure to uphold their own principles and justice and that their pledges are as good as sheer rhetoric.
06- Rafizi's (PKR's strategic director) allegation that Selangor would fall in the hands of the opposition (BN) should Khalid is allowed to continue as the state's MB is his own invention. He cited that people would reject PR soon after Khalid's wrongdoings are exposed.
07- Saifuddin's (PKR's secretary-general) statement that the Selangor crisis could have been resolved based on principles of consensus is absurd when he is among the several leaders of PR who has attacked PAS and it's president Hadi Awang.
08- Anwar is only interested to use Selangor's wealth to enhance his capability towards "fishing" more assemblymen to jump ship (cross-over to PR).
09- That PR has "hidden" the PAS duo to prevent them from retracting their stance and cancelling the SDs they have signed.
10- Where are PKR & DAP morals - When Khalid went against his former party PKR, they hurled insults to the former, but they accepted with open arms the PAS duo who went against their party PAS' earlier stance on the MB issue.
11- The craze to MB post is motivated by Selangor's RM3 billion in reserve.
12- The 40-page dossier against Khalid issued by PKR resembling the "50 dalil book" published sometime ago . Khalid who was praised sky-high suddenly pictured as a very different person and they said that is tyranny and oppression, the same Anwar has claimed when he was sacked from the party (Umno) and government.
I choose not to mention in this article whatever that was transpired with racist elements.
Today's PAS central committee after it's meeting decided -
- PAS no longer support Khalid. PAS no longer supports Khalid
- PAS has nominated PKR deputy president Azmin Ali along with Wan Azizah for the Sultan of Selangor to consider/select.
- Four PAS' Excos (Executive Councillors) to remain in Khalid's lead government.
With the new twist in situation, Khalid has no option but to seek an audience with HRH the Sulatan to explain on the latest development pertaining to the MB crisis.
The embattled MB was reported to have said that he would continue administrating (state) Selangor together with the four PAS excos to safeguard the fiasco from affecting the people.
"In this latest development, I will seek an audience with the Sultan and advise him on the next appropriate step," he said in a press statement issued on Sunday, report The Star.
It looks that, it's now up to The Selangor Ruler whether or not to consent Azizah's nomination for the MB post since Azmin has bows-out in line with the party stand.
People of Selangor in particular are waiting anxiously to see if what has been resolved today would end the crisis for good.
