What if when the ruling party of a country is not up to the mark?
Who to blame? Who will judge?
BN 100 days in office is up!
Any significant change(s) for the betterment of the rakyat?
If it is Yes - what are they?.
If it is No -
Is this the trouble when the less than half of Malaysian voters don't see the need for change?
For not wanting to give the Opposition Front a chance to prove?
Is this the trouble of 'follow' for the sake of 'following'?.
When DSAI (Anwar Ibrahim) 'confirms' PM DS Najib is seeking a unity govt with the opposition, it indicates that they are in a state of 'restlessness'.
Why not?, when more than half of Malaysian voters 'deserted' them for the opposition in the 13th general election (GE13)?.
Perhaps now do they realized, how badly were they 'shakened' following a massive loss of support from the people.
Like the popular saying that goes, "what is money without health", what is a Govt without the majority support of its people.
Another wiseman's quote,"behind every successful man, there is a strong woman".
I wish I can also put it this way; "behind every successful Govt, there is always a strong support of it's people?".
Under present circumstances, it is crystal clear that Umno is having trouble following the dismal performance of its partners in BN in recent GE13.
Why PM Najib is talking about unity govt? My guess is simple.
Parliament has 222 seats, to have a two third majority, BN needs at least 15 to make up 148 seats.
For illustration purpose, lets
take if PAS -for having the least number of seats in PR's coalition- joins Umno. With 21 seats in their
name, BN would then have a comfortable two-third majority with a total number of seats fetching 154/222 in parliament.
Is that not a good guess as to why the issue of unity Govt crops up?.
But as for PAS, there are other considerations that could pose as a hindrance.
They are fully aware of the fact that Umno is still being oppressive in many ways, among others -
1- Oil royalties to the Kelantan state govt and the people of Kelantan.
2- Oppressing Pakatan Rakyat (PR) governed states.
3- Oppression towards PR leaders and it's supporters.
If we care to look at the GE13 results, PAS gained the least in number of seats as compared to it's partners, PKR and DAP.
Is it because PAS is complacent?
Were they thinking what they had won in last GE will stay?
Were they over confident?
It's non of the above.
Actually, PAS worked hard, as hard as it's partners, if not more. But I like to believe that PAS' declining performance in GE13 was mainly due to the fact that PAS contested in more rural than urban seats.
The rural voters are very much lacking in information esp information on incumbent as brought by PR in their campaigns and lack of access to alternative sources (internet).
In many parts of the rural constituencies, mainstream medias (print and electronics) are their main, if not the only source of information they can depend on.
Knowing how 'biased' the mainstream medias were before the election, it has made it difficult for PAS to rebut or counter BN's attacks brought by the said medias.
Adding salt to injury was the 'goodies' such as BR1M which had a considerable impact on the rural folks and voters.
Hypothetically speaking, should really PAS joins Umno, there is a likelyhood that Umno will 'brainwash' PAS instead of PAS 'brainwashing' Umno. I remembered well an of ex-PAS leader, Nakhae Ahmad.
He thrown his towel on PAS for Umno. At one time he was so 'useful' to Umno. He discredited his former party PAS, for Umno. Now, his name is hardly heard in Umno circle.
That's one issue. Another is the fact that PAS had merged with Umno before and eventually had to find the exit door. Isn't there any lesson at all PAS could have learned?
Forget Not, how arrogant were some Umno/BN leaders towards PR esp those appointed ministers in PM Najib's cabinet post GE13?.
They spoke and acted as if they have forgotten their roots? Far from portraying values towards unity?.
Now that their Boss (PM Najib) is talking about unity govt, I wonder where are they going to hide their faces?
Like a 'finger-less' getting a ring, only to realise there's no finger to put on?. It's high time for PM Najib to evaluate and remind leaders of such kind in attitude that 'parrots' are not needed in his Govt. It's time to excel and re-gain the 'missing' support of the people and not to 'show-off'. Before GE13, they are 'humble',
as if 'putting their temper on ice' only to show colour the moment 'power' is obtained?.
But the most important thing to consider is - non other than - Mahathirism in Umno & Govt (Mahathir,Umno & Govt).
We saw how influential he still can be, to Umno and Govt?
I cannot hide my disagreement with his views and actions and unlike Zainuddin Maidin (Zam), I would find it extremely difficult to find words to complete a book about him, if I'm asked to do so.
Mahathir,Umno & Govt. His 22 years at the helm of Umno and Govt cannot be conveniently overlooked.
His conservative views could still be loyally 'shared & carried' by many, still sitting in the supreme council row and the Govt.
Remember Pak Lah (Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi)?
How did Dr Mahathir 'pressured' him out of PM's (prime minister) office? Is there really a necessity for him to leave Umno and said would only return when Pak Lah is no more a PM and Umno president?
To me, that's sulking. To some, sulking is childish. But still, it was an effective way to keep Pak Lah pressured. Isn't his 'antiques' aimed at 'forcing' Pak Lah to step down?
He (Dr Mahathir) can be one of the obstacles that could 'slow-down' PM Najib's initiatives or attempts to reform - be it the party (Umno) or Govt.
Will he (Dr Mahathir) be the stumbling block?
Umno's coming general assembly would be interesting to wait for.
Should PAS, or any other party(ies) from PR's coalition agreed to form a unity Govt, what is the assuarance that they won't be 'victimised' or 'used' to only strengthen Umno/BN?
How would the voters/rakyat (who had voted PR) react without first being 'consulted' for 'approval and blessings?'.
Forget not, they voted PR as they believed, PR was their right choice of being their next Govt.
Should BN becomes strong following the entry(ies) of party(ies) from the opposition, credit would eventually go to their favor and how would PR face them in GE14?
However, in today's report by Malaysiakini, The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) denied media reports on unity govt talks. They denied that PM Najib is seeking unity govt with opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, saying that media reports of talks are merely "a figment of the writer's imagination"
Whether this denial is made after indication of 'acceptance' to such proposal is not encouraging or a mere 'denial syndrome'.
It's a good news that there won't be any 'unity' govt.
I discourage PR leaders to be part in a Govt where it's minister has the gut to say, "I don't please anyone but myself".
Is that selfish attitude or blatant arrogance?.
Wise-man says, "if you mix with drug addicts, one day you will become one".
I am, like most Malaysians if not all - for UNITY. No 2nd thought about it. In-fact, it was some Umno/BN leaders and groups closely in association with them that had issued provocative statements seen could trigger racial tension, at the same time placing unity on the line.
If only I can be heard, I would suggest PM Najib to be committed with his reform agendas.
Reforming the party (Umno/BN) and the Govt would bring among others, unity.
It may not come cheap as PM Najib's action(s) towards reforms can make him unpopular in Umno's circle. But doing the right things don't need to be popular all the times.
Respect is gained. Whatever good in the name and interest of the rakyat, respect is due.
Will PM Najib be willing and prepared to take the challenge for
the rakyat and the nation?
One thing irk me. Pre-GE13 esp during campaign period, PR was belittled, ridiculed like 'nobody business' by almost all Umno/BN leaders. From personal issues of PR leaders to inability to run the country, let alone leading the country into bankruptcy. umno/BN failed to 'look at themselves in the mirror'.
Look at our national debt, deficit, even Malaysian Airline System's (MAS) share is now only worth 30 sen/share.
What happened? Bad management? 'Unseen' hands?
From about RM10/share at one time, to merely 30sen?. If Umno/BN has got best brains to 'deal' with the opposition, can't they find best brains to salvage a one time blue chip counter, MAS?.
Despite my obvious political partisanship, as a citizen, I can accept the fact that BN is the ruling party and that DS Najib is the legitimate Prime Minister. I have no problem to support actions, policies even laws that protect and for the interest of rakyat and the nation so long as NOT the OPPOSITE.
