Should a snap-election in Selangor becomes inevitable after the return of HRH the Sultan of Selangor this Sunday, people would start thinking if the 2013 general election (GE13) is a waste of public fund and waste of people's time.
First thing that comes into the mind of majority people would be PR's own stream of what the opposite divide would call it as political propaganda that pledged literal change.
The shouts and cries of "Reformasi", "Ubah" and "Ini Kalilah" (Reformation, Change and This the Time) would be remembered as sheer gigantic words to seduce the people into believing that they are the perfect alternative coalition to Barisan Nasional (BN) and an incredible state government(s) Malaysians have not seen for the last fifty over years. An equitable, veracious government to replace BN.
Barely 2 years after GE13, several leaders within PR who championed principle, transparency (lets not mention the rest - a disgrace to the dictionary), appeared not more like actors in a movie theater - betraying the basic soul of principle, morality, public confidence and trust.
To people of the opposite divide (BN), they would conveniently and happily address them as entertainers who use intelligence for all the wrong reasons.
I have repeatedly mentioned that I'm not defending Khalid, but It makes me wonder - He has been MB for Selangor for almost seven years (1 term plus) and surely that has made him very much like them, and all of a sudden, he is pictured as bad as the devil?
Am I very wrong to ask - What takes the angels so long (almost seven years) to see that Khalid is a devil? OR are the angels equally devils?
My other wonder is, didn't they realize that Kajang Move (which I personally object since it's beginning) could only bring disaster than a "vehicle" to Putrajaya.
Continuing the Kajang Move is as good as challenging and insulting public's intelligence and don't they see the effect and impact on them, the party and coalition could be just suicidal?
And one more thing, to use the 40-page dossier against Khalid samples a tactic often used by "friends" across the "river" and yes, it was quite effective those days, but now?
People started laughing as it resembles what has been used against Anwar Ibrahim.
Say what you like, at least Khalid has got some legacies like "CEO of the Year", "Best Selangor MB" and "The Dawn Raid"...what about PKR's secretary-general Saifuddin?, PKR's strategy director Rafizi?
Must be the Kajang Move?
Should a change of Selangor MB becomes a reality, following are the potential hurdles/hindrances and challenges before and after the appointment.
Before the appointment -
- PR needs to seek an audience with the Selangor Ruler, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to present the name(s) of the nominated candidate and seek the consent of the Sultan to appoint Wan Azizah (should PR stick to it's decision to nominate only Azizah) as the new MB (chief minister) replacing embattled incumbent, Khalid Ibrahim.
- Should the Sultan refuses Azizah, PR needs to submit an alternative name(s) for the Sultan to "consider" and grant consent. However, should PR majority support is given to Azizah by Selangor state assemblymen, it's quite difficult for the Sultan to refuse especially when no alternative name(s) are presented.
After the appointment -
- Will Azizah's appointment resolves problems/issues? Only time will tell. What is certain, in front of Azizah (PR) will be the perception of people's high expectation with her new administration.
- People of Selangor would set a high standard for Azizah to continue developing Selangor and sustain Selangor's prosperity, to continue several projects with people's interest such as the Water agreement between Selangor govt and the Federal government. Though Azizah could have an arsenal of experts and very likely Anwar Ibrahim to assist her, it is uncertain if Azizah could match her predecessor, Khalid. Her failure to manage Selangor's finance and wealth will put put her under a lot of pressure.
What awaits Khalid's successor?
- Khalid's legacy. His excellence in administrating the state would always overshadow his successor.
- Khalid's ability to steer the state's economy which managed to provide reserves RM3 billion for Selangor and that people describe him as one of the most successful MB in administrating the state.
- Khalid's successor not only has the task of ensuring a better record set by Khalid, but would also face people's continuous scrutiny.
- Advantages that Khalid has - knowledge of economy - experiences and exposures in that fields, which has indirectly helped him to harness Selangor's wealth successfully.
- Khalid has also successfully managed state's fund and avoid wastage - instead, the fund was used to implement several programs efficiently.
Now, remember what Saifuddin has claimed with regard to PKR's 40-page dossier?
He claimed that Khalid had became a BN-friendly and that,"For sure MACC will clear him. You know the words 'selective investigation'. They will apply that to Khalid," said Saifuddin.
He talks so much of selective prosecution, right?
Let me share with you the following, and you decide how to call it -
"Suara Keadilan" on Aug 12 reported about rubbish in Kampung Tasek Tambahan, Ampang.
In the past, while drawing rosy picture of Khalid's administration, such negative reports cannot find space in Suara Keadilan except, in pro-Umno/BN medias.
But now, after they see the need to oust him from his MB office, they selected materials that could undermine Khalid's image and integrity.
Khalid can't even handle the rubbish?
When positive materials are selected, it would paint a good picture of someone, but when negative (bad) materials are selected, bad will be one's image.
Selective? NO?
In PKR, we have seen the fate of several leaders whom at one stage stand firmly besides Anwar but chose to desert him and/or the party.
If you are observant, one of Anwar's strength is his pace and speed in getting new support after deserted by old friends.
I won't be surprised if Saifuddin will leave him one fine day, just like Ezam Mohd Noor and others.
Then, I would ask him,"Where is the six boxes?," as people had asked Ezam. LOL
